“ENOUGH!”
Napatigil kaming lahat to see Thea seething, eyes glaring at Gab while he stood in the middle of the room.
Pareparehas kaming nasa bahay, sila Ninay, had their free day just because may repairs na ginagawa sa school nila, something electrical of some sort. Si Nic didn’t have classes on Tuesdays naturally, on college schedules. And of course, Thea was on house arrest.
Nakatambay kaming apat nila Ninay, DJ, at Rica sa living room, watching some movie hand-picked by DJ when we all hear Thea raise her voice.
“It has been three weeks. Three!” sabi niya, glaring at Gab, tone pissed off. “Don’t you think you’re being too melodramatic?! Why don’t you just talk to me?!”
Napansin naman naming lahat yun. The entire time, we rarely say anything, since it was Gab and Thea. They’ve had the most time with each other, kaysa sa aming lahat dito sa loob ng bahay.
But we didn’t know it was already three weeks.
“I don’t have time for this.” Sabi ni Gab, apparently finding Thea’s outburst unimportant.
“Well, you don’t seem to have time for me at all!” sabi ni Thea, crossing her arms. “See? I’m already sounding like a clingy girlfriend for all this frustration pent up.”
Nakalingon lang kaming tatlo sa kanilang dalawa, leaving Rica the only one paying attention to the movie. Napatingin sa amin si Gab briefly and binalik naming tatlo yung tingin sa TV
Hindi rin naman nagtagal bago kami napatingin ulit.
“This is stupid. Bat ba hindi tayo mag usap??” sabi ni Thea.
“What the hell are you talking about, Thea?” Gab says in a monotonous tone.
“You haven’t been talking to me for three weeks!” Thea. “You haven’t called me, texted me or anything!” sabi niya, before exhaling.
Nakatingin na si Gab kay Thea, with a bored expression.
“I’m tired.” Sagot naman ni Gab, turning to leave, pero nahawakan siya ni Thea.
“NO!” she says, “You’re not avoiding me or brushing me off this time.”
Tinignan lang ni Gab yung hawak ni Thea sa braso niya, glaring at his cousin in annoyance.
“Take it off or I break it off.” Sabi niya.
Marahang binitawan ni Thea si Gab, looking up at him. He surprisingly doesn’t take off, nakatingin lang siya sa pinsan niya, anger now all melted in his face. Hindi rin siya nakangiti, just staring at her.
Si Thea din, had melted down, now a sad expression in her face.
“Why don’t you just talk to me.” Sabi niya, looking down. “I just want to talk to you.”
I looked at Ninay, who nodded. Tumayo si DJ, taking Rica’s hand and then whispering something to her, habang si Ninay naman dumeretso na sa balcony, with the two trailing behind hand in hand. Ako rin sumama sa kanila , leaving Gab and Thea alone on their own.
Lumabas kami ng balcony saka naman namin sinara yung glass na sliding doors. Umupo kaming tatlo dun sa sofa set.
Si Rica had long gone down sa garden, spotting the gardener planting new flowers sa isang flowerbed. Naiwan kaming tatlo ni DJ at Ninay. A good few minutes had gone before one actually breaks the silence.
