"Everything's gonna be okay, Ate Kate." Thea tells me, hugging me as I cried sa leeg niya. “Tahan na.”
“Oo nga Ate Kate. You're just stressing yourself. Makakasama sayo yan." Ninay.
I was seated sa may kama ko and I was crying so much. It was all I could do. Hindi na ako makapagsalita.
Halatang nagulat silang lahat kanina sa sinabi ko. Sa totoo lang, hindi ko naman kayang makita si Thea ang humandle sa lahat. Naiintindihan ko yung concern niya, and I have to admit, ako din naiisip kong may point siya na hindi ko kaya ang stress.
Even Thea's simple pranks get me stressed out. I really don't think I couldve faced Kuya Max and taken his sermon without breaking down.
"I... I’m sorry" Iyak ko.
"Ate, Tahan na po. Please?" Ninay.
"I can't." Sagot ko ng humihikbi.
“Ate Kate,you're gonna strain yourself by overthinking." Thea says, running a hand sa likod ko. “Tama na. Okay lang ang lahat. Everything’s gonna be alright.”
"She’s right." Ninay agrees. “Maaayos din ang lahat, please stop crying?” she pleads.
"I...I…" I tried. "Well, I can't! They know already and they're discussing about it right now sa baba!"
Halata ang gulat sa mga mukha ng lahat sa sinabi ko kanina. Thea, Ninay and Jake included. I saw Gab and Kuya Max be the ones who were surprised the most. I could see their relief that Thea wasn't the one who was knocked up. Though I saw the clear hurt on Kuya Max's eyes.
Not to mention the drama.
"She's not the one who's pregnant! I am!"
Napabitaw si Mama Cecile sa hawak niyang tinidor. Halata yung gulat sa mga mata ni Kuya Max.
"Thea?" Tita Angie. "Ano ito?"
"Walang kasalanan si Thea dito. Ako yung dahilan kung bakit niya nasabi sa inyo yun. Wag kayo sa kanya magalit. Ako yung nabuntis dito, hindi si Bunso, okay? Ako ang parusahan ninyo.”
“Kate…”
Napaupo si Thea sa upuan niya, still shocked. Napatingin ako kay Mama Cecile na nakatakip yung bunganga niya gamit yung isang kamay niya. Her eyes were filled with tears and I felt my entire soul just drop from my body. Napatingin ako kanila Nana, Tita Val, Tita Angie and Tita Janice were all staring at me with wide surprised expressions.
“Ma…”
“Katherina…” Was all Mama Cecile could say. “Tell me you’re joking.”
