A Close Call

Farkas and I had been *cough* going at it for weeks. He had just been freed from his beast blood and we were happily wed in Riften earlier that year. Farkas had wanted children for a while and even though we had taken in Lucia off the streets and given her a home he, and Lucia, wanted a baby.

At first I was not willing to go through with it. I was a fighter by nature and to give it up to have a child was not something that I thought was even remotely possible. I wanted to keep exploring. But the more time I spent at home with Farkas and Lucia, the more time spent watching him interact with her, play games, make pictures, play fight, and even read to her, I realised that this family was all I needed.

Farkas was so excited when I first agreed to try that he told Lydia to take Lucia outside and watch her while we had sex from morning until midday! I'm soooo not complaining though, he had amazing talent.

"Come on Aela we need to go!" I shouted down the stairs into the living quarters of Jorvaskr.

"I'm coming." She stated as she strapped on her other gauntlet and made her way up the stairs.

"The bandits aren't going to be gone all day you know." I smiled as she passed me and made her way outside.

I followed, walking through the dark town on Whiterun and heading to the gate. It was four in the morning and we had reports coming in from the Jarl that there were bandits terrorising the citizens, they were held up in Halted Stream Camp and me and Aela were going to shut down their little operation.

I saddled up my horse as Aela bought one from Skulvar and we left.

"So when will you be trading in the sword for a better one?" Aela asked as we strolled down to the camp.

"This sword happens to be the sword I love most." I retorted. "It was the first possession of mine when I made it out of Helgen, besides bloody clothes I stole from dead people." I chuckled as we turned the corner and continued off the road.

"Well you should consider just displaying it if it means that much to you. Its a better way to preserve the memory." She added.

"I don't really want to preserve it. I was almost killed by Alduin." I shivered at the memory, it was the only time I had ever been genuinely afraid of something since I was fourteen.

"Ah. I see. Wearing it out and waiting for it to break." Aela realised. "It is truly the best way for a weapon to end its legacy."

"I agree." We stopped at the entrance of the camp.

"Now lets go and kill us some bandits." She smirked.

We ran in, swords at the ready, and took out the two guards on the ground with one swipe each. Ignoring the sounds of bone rattle traps that caught the attention of the rest of the men, Aela then changed to her bow, shooting down the men that were out of reach as I carried on slicing through the ones on the ground. Aela made her way up the elevated platform and shot the last man on the other side, I on the other hand was having a bit of trouble with the last bandit. He was near indestructible with is armour and shield, and I was not very good at making hits with someone who wore a shield. My two one-handed weapons were built to slice not block. I hated blocking. I was down to half of the health I had started on when I engaged this bandit in a fight when he swung for my head.

He stopped moving when I heard and arrow fly, and I lowered my weapons when said arrow's head was pocking out of his neck.

"Thanks." I said as she jogged down to meet me at the entrance of the mine.
