{draco's pov}

I spot (Y/n) standing at the end of a hall and looking down the other side as if she's hiding from someone. "(Y/n)." She flinches at my voice. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

She looks around to make sure we were the only ones. "Yeah fine."

"Then why are you hiding?" I ask then look down the hall myself. That's when I see Pugface and her other bitches. "Ah I see." I look back to her and she refuses to make eye contact. "It's okay, I'll be there." I smile.

She looks up at my extended hand. She hesitates but takes it anyway. She was walking next to me but I noticed that the closer we got, the more she hid behind me. I reach my other hand out behind me and she takes it and lets go of my other one so she's now on the other side of me.

"Hi Draco!" Pugfuck squeals. I just glare at her and then she realises I'm holding (Y/n)'s hand. "Umm... what are you doing?"

"Walking." I say bluntly and shrugging. I don't stop though as I feel (Y/n) walking faster and I don't want to make her uncomfortable.

"I mean why are you holding it's hand?" She places her hands on her hips and I stop in my tracks.

Sorry (Y/n).

I slowly let go of (Y/n)'s hand and walk up to Pansy. "She may not be able to speak, but that doesn't make her any less human. You have no idea what her past is like and you shouldn't be so quick to judge." I say calmly, trying to calm my nerves.

"I don't care about her past, she just shouldn't be allowed to go to this school." Shithead fires back.

"She has the same right as anyone here. If anything, she deserves to be in Hogwarts more than you. So you can shut your pug hole before I sew it shut!" I yell.

"Hm, maybe that's what happened to (Y/n)?" She laughs loudly and annoyingly.

"Son of a-"

"Draco it's okay!" (Y/n) calms me. "Just leave her alone, she's not worth it."

"What? The bitch can speak?" Her eyes widen. "Huh, who would've thought? Maybe she was just doing it for attention."

My blood boils and I'm prepared to slap her all the way back to last week. But when I look back to (Y/n) I see that she doesn't want a fight. I take her hand again and continue walking down the hall.

"Thank you for sticking up for me, Draco" She whispers. "I never really had anyone to do that for me."

I look down at her and smile. "It's okay. That bitch deserves it anyway. But I'm glad you're able to speak now."

"Yeah I think I made a mistake doing that."

"Wha-no you didn't! Seriously I think they're finally going to leave you alone now."

"So does that mean you will, too?"

"What does that mean?" I tilt me head in confusion.

"Well you just wanted to protect me, if there's no one to protect me from there's no poi-mm." I cut her off by slamming my lips against hers. I slowly move mine in sync with hers. She stands on her toes to deepen the kiss as I grip her by her waist. Eventually we pull away for air.

"Does this answer your question?" I whisper in a low voice. She visibly blushes and looks down, covering her face with her hair. "I'll always be here to protect you."

~~~
And he did as he promised all those years ago. He protected her. He shielded her. He loved her. No one would stand in the way of them two. He had this beautiful image of them two growing old yet...
there was one point when he couldn't protect her.
Everyday he regrets letting your hand go during the war. He wished he kept holding it like the day you both walked down the hall. He wished he would never let go.
That was the one time he couldn't protect you.
