                *Patrick's P.O.V.*

Me: Hey, do you want to go out for lunch today?

No. That's wrong. I backspaced the text.

Me: Hey. Are you doing anything today?

There. I sent the text to Lyla, and went to make myself breakfast.

I'm just about to load my waffles with Jonathan's maple syrup, when my phone blings.

LylaWes: No, I'm not doing anything today. What's up?

Me: Bored. Spend the day with me, pretty pleease?

LylaWes: hmm, my brother Sam and his girlfriend are over. Is it okay if they tag along?

Me: sure. I'll come over right now.

LylaWes: what are we doing?

Me: you'll see ;)

LylaWes: Make me surprised (:

I quickly finish off my breakfast, and pull out a Blackhawks "STRENGTH" tee shirt.

I'm seeing Lyla today.

I go up the elevator, to the 7th floor.

709............

Right. Here it is.

I knock three times, and stand back.

"Hey." A breathless Lyla opens the door.

"Hi --"

She cuts me off with a hug, and it takes me a moment to hug her back.

"You're here." She says, looking at me.

"Yeah, i am." I smile.

I wonder what caused her sudden change of mood. She was so distant from me before, I'm surprised she even agreed for me to come over.

"Come on in." She opens the door, and leads me into the apartment.

"Patrick fucking Kane."

A dark haired girl with black plastic framed glasses breathed my name out.

"It's Patrick FUCKING Kane!" She stares at me.

"Laura." Lyla's brother slung his arm around her waist, and pulled her in.

"Oops. Sorry." She giggled.

"Yeah, um this is Patrick." Lyla introduced me 'officially' to her brother.

"Sam, and Laura." Sam gestures to the dark haired girl, and she grins.

"Big fan, eighty eight." Laura winks.

"Eh." I shrug modestly, making Lyla giggle.

"Whereto now?" Sam asks.

"I was thinking of taking Lyla shopping for the gala..." i trail off, not knowing if Sam and Laura want to come or not.

"Oh. We'll just hang here." Sam says.

"You sure, man? Cause you guys can come with...." i trail off again.

"Nah, we're good here. We'll probably catch a movie." Laura shrugs.

Good. I secretly just wanted to be with Lyla.

"What? Shop? What's the dress code?" Lyla asks.

"It's a formal party." I shrug.

She nods, taking her bag off the counter.

"It's good that i get to take a break from my work." Lyla smiles.

"What do you do?" I ask curiously.

"I'm a writer. I write articles and reviews, although what I'm really focusing on is novels." She beams.

I grin. "You're amazing."

"No, being an all star NHL player is amazing." She jokes.

"Let's go, Wes." I call her by her last name, and her lips twitch in the act of trying not to smile.

Lyla seems like the TOTAL opposite of me.

She's a writer, I'm a hockey player.

I like to party, she's quiet and self spoken.

Whatever it is, i find her intriguing.
