Chapter 16: A Father's Challenge

On Poni Island, a group of three men were resting in a house, sitting on a black sofa. The man on the left had light skin, brown eyes, and tall, light brown spiky hair and was wearing a black short sleeved shirt with buttons, green pants, and green and white shoes. The man on the right had brown hair and green eyes and was wearing a green short sleeved polo shirt, black pants, and black shoes. The man in the middle had raven black hair and brown eyes and was wearing a red and white cap, a red and white short sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and red and white shoes. A Pikachu was lying in his lap, fast asleep.

"So, Red, I hear that Kevin had gained admission into the Alola League with his final Grand Trial victory against Hapu." the man on the right stated with a knowing smirk aimed at Red. He couldn't help but smile a little bit.

"That he did, Green. That he did. I also heard that Ash is not too far behind after having beaten Olivia. It'd be cool to see those two battling against each other there." Red replied with pride evident in his voice.

"True. But you know what would be even cooler? You battling one of them." the man on the left said with a grin. Pikachu's ears perked up at the sound of that, and he opened his eyes and quickly stood up. His and Red's faces lit up at the prospects of a battle against one of their children.

"Arceus damn it, Blue! Now you're making me wish I hadn't retired from my position as the Kahuna of this island yet! Right, Voltage?" he asked in an annoyed tone. Blue and Green couldn't help but laugh.

Right on, Red! It'd be cool to battle against Maria or Ash's Pikachu! Voltage answered via aura with a fist up in the air. Red chuckled a little as he rubbed his head. Voltage cooed in affection.

"Spoken like a true Champion, Red! Anyway, I wonder what Leaf's been up to lately. Knowing her, she's probably with Kevin." Green stated with a mischievous smile on his face.

"True. I wish Delia and Yellow would end that dumb feud of theirs. Damn, it's been thirty freaking years already! I mean, I love Delia and all, but don't they know that they're hindering our children's chances at a relationship? Not that Kevin or Leaf cares about that, because they've been best friends their whole lives! Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they've been a secret couple since their journeys through Sinnoh." Red replied with disgust aimed at the situation with their wives.

"Yeah. I mean, I'd fully support a relationship with Kevin and Leaf, no question about it. I'm sure you would too." Green said with an apologetic glance. Red instantly nodded in agreement. Then they, along with Voltage, looked over at Blue, who had been unusually quiet for a while.

"Hey Blue, what are you thinking about?" Red asked curiously.

Blue sighed before saying, "I'm thinking about the Ultra Beasts. I don't think we've seen the last of them yet. Not with Lusamine around. After all, they did try to drug Lillie with Nihilego's neurotoxin five months ago. Thank Arceus for Gladion and Type: Null being there, though! I don't think Gary would be as happy as he is in Alola if he hadn't met Lillie. In any case, Lusamine and the Ultra Beasts will still want revenge on us and the Guardians for what we did to the Ultra Space and Calem all those years ago. But I wonder...how far are they willing to go to get it?" A shiver went down Red, Voltage, and Green's spines at the mere mention of Lusamine and the Ultra Beasts.

"Don't remind us. Knowing them, they're probably plotting their vengeance right now. But we're not going to let that happen, right?" Red stated with a mixture of fear and determination evident in his voice. Before either of the three could speak, they all heard a ringing sound coming from the kitchen. Voltage jumped onto Red's left shoulder as he stood up and walked over to the video phone. He picked up the receiver and put it up to his ear while also pressing a button. The screen appeared, revealing a very troubled Hala.
