~Time has brought your heart to me. I have loved you for a thousand years. I'll love you for a thousand more.~
"I know Lindsey Gibbons." The handsome man said.
I blinked. I didn't know what to say. How could nobody know about Lindsey Gibbons except for this one random man who worked there? Thankfully, Danny helped out.
"You know Lindsey?" He asked.
The man nodded. "I just finished work. Why don't we go to my apartment?"
"That would be great." Danny smiled and followed the man.
My best friend did all the talking. I didn't know what had just happened. Why didn't the receptionist know Lindsey? I was positive she worked for Ralph Lauren in the marketing department but why was there never a history of her there? Was it possible that she changed jobs? Maybe she moved to Gucci or something...but the job offered to her was remarkable. She couldn't refuse. And how could this man know about Lindsey and the others didn't?
I was disturbed by how good-looking the man was. Now, I'm not bisexual (or gay, mind you) but this man had a handsome face and a buff muscular body with tough muscles. Why did he know Lindsey and the others didn't? Did he and Lindsey-
No, she wouldn't do that. She went to Milan only a few days after our break-up. A year has gone by after that fateful night and I still haven't gotten over Lindsey. It wasn't possible that she hadn't been over our relationship (of ten years!) in a few days.
I tried my best to hate the man but there was nothing to hate. He was kind and nothing bad came off him. I loathed him. Thankfully, I didn't talk. I couldn't. He held the answers to my ex-girlfriend.
He drove in a sleek black Toyota car to his apartment. It wasn't fancy but he did lead a better life than me. We got to the building and he led us to his room - Room 4-A. Now, the furnitures were posh but it didn't scream gay. At least, I had one good reason not to like him. Danny and I sat down on his leather couch as he went to the kitchen and served us both cups of coffee. I took a sip. I definitely need more caffeine today.
"And you are?" He started off the conversation.
"Hi!" Danny said. "This is Chris Reed, Lindsey's ex-boyfriend back in the United States and I'm Danny, his best friend. Lindsey and I used to be neighbors."
"I'm Callisto." He introduced himself. "Nice to meet you, Chris and Danny."
Now, that he spoke longer sentences, I noticed that he was a native...with really good English.
"So, you're Chris Reed?" Callisto pointed at me.
"You bet your sweet ass I am." I said drinking more coffee.
"Ah," He grinned. "I love you, Americans. Now, I believe you wanted to talk about Ms. Lindsey Gibbons, right?"
"Yes." The two of us answered at the same time.
"Why don't you ask questions and I'll answer them." He suggested.
"Sure." Danny and I answered simultaneously.
"You start it off." Danny whispered to me.
"What happened to Lindsey when she got here?" I gave Callisto my serious voice and asked.
"She accepted the job offer over here at Ralph Lauren as head of the marketing department." He answered straightly. Oh well, at least he was frank.
