~In my dreams, I'll always see you soar above the sky. In my heart, there will always be a place for you for all my life.~
Danny and I walked out of the doors of the John F. Kennedy International Airport. I took a deep breath and yelled out loud. I smiled at Danny who smiled back.
"What's with the yelling?" He asked half-laughing.
"I know we've been having rotten luck lately...but I have a good feeling about this. New York...I can totally imagine Lindsey here."
"I don't know." He shrugged. "Didn't you imagine Lindsey in Milan and Rome too?"
I slapped him on the back. "You are the worst best friend ever."
I hailed a taxi and asked him to take us to the Casablanca Hotel where we booked a room.
As we rode, I pondered about things. I couldn't take it if Lindsey was here. She had to be here. There was no way she wasn't here. I knew New York was a place of bad memories for both Lindsey and me because of our break-up but this was the city where Lindsey grew up. Maybe Lindsey would make the same decision I did. Go back to the place of our birth.
I looked over to Danny. He had been acting a little weird ever since I told him the plane ride from Milan to Rome. I had a large hunch it had something to do with Olivia's doppelganger. This girl was definitely playing with Danny. He's so fragile right now. I've never seen him liked a girl this much. And would you believe it? On our flight from Italy back here to New York, we saw her again. She was on our plane. What is the deal? Why was she always with us? It frustrated me. I'm pretty sure she even flirted with Danny a few times and gave him a few winks there. Slut.
I'm getting distracted. How am I exactly going to find Lindsey? Back in Milan and Rome, I only had one clue - the fact that she worked for Ralph Lauren but unlike before, she came to New York not because of her job but of her own will. What if she wasn't working for Ralph Lauren anymore? I would've lost that single clue. I have to try my best to be optimistic.
When Danny and I got to the hotel, it was already late in the evening so we decided to eat a cheap dinner and call it a day. We'd make a plan tomorrow morning.

Because of my long sleep in the plane, I only slept for a few hours in the hotel. I woke up at around five in the morning. I knew that Danny would wake up only about three hours after that so I decided to take a little field trip of my own.
I put on my regular clothes and walked out of the room. I took a stroll on the streets of New York. I hailed a taxi and rode to Hollis Apartments, Brooklyn, where Lindsey and I used to live.
I looked at the huge brick building. It looked the same with the stone steps leading to the glass doorway that always made this huge noise when opening it and the the large facade. On top of the doorway, a sign that read Hollis Apartments told me that I was in the right place. I'd never really noticed intricate little things like that over our building before but now that Lindsey and I weren't together anymore, it had this dark and lonely aura surrounding it.
I whirled around and faced the local diner. Lindsey and I used to to have breakfast here every morning. My stomach started to growl so I decided to eat there. I ordered a simple black coffee and pancakes.
I wish Lindsey were here. I know what she'd order - capuccino with bacon and eggs. It felt lonely all of a sudden without her. We would always exchange stories and make small talk here while having breakfast but now, it was quiet and empty.
