You're really going to love Chris in this chapter ;)
So sorry again! I've got tons to do in school with my problems in Chemistry, making masks for an upcoming event, practicing speeches, making improvised costumes, designing scrapbooks, memorizing crap...ANYWAY! Here's the eleventh chapter of A Message From My Ex :)
Flashback~
"LINDSEY!"
The two of us turned out attention to the door. The knob started shaking. Someone was about to come in. A man about the same age as I was came in. He had this messy bedhead dark black hair and chocolate brown eyes came in. He looked at me startlingly then shifted his gaze back to Lindsey.
"Oh no." Lindsey muttered under her breath.
"Who are you?" He asked me.
"Umm, who are you?" I asked. Who is this guy and why does he have the key to Lindsey's apartment.
"Derek Hudson. Lindsey's boyfriend"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~I'm out of touch, I'm out of love. I'll pick you up when you're getting down and of all these things I've done, I think I love you better now.~
Derek Hudson. Lindsey's boyfriend.
That's a lot to swallow.
I come to New York after all this time only to find out that Lindsey has a boyfriend now. That was definitely out of the blue.
I know that we broke up already and I know that Lindsey had the upper hand in this relationship but I seriously didn't expect that. I can't say anything though. We broke up. Lindsey's free to date anyone she wants. I just didn't expect that it'd be this soon.
I looked at Derek again. I'm not really the arrogant type but I was pretty convinced that I was better-looking than him. It's not like he wasn't handsome but he had this homey look. He had this look that just told any girl 'Don't worry. I'm here for you.' My face seemed more like an arrogant prick's than my softer interior.
"Umm...Lin, who's he?" He asked carrying some brown grocery bags into the apartment and putting it on top of the table.
Lindsey's face seemed to be in panic and I honestly, couldn't blame her. I already feel kind of awkward in this situation. What more for her? She's in her apartment with her ex-boyfriend whom she dated for ten years and her current boyfriend who she's been dating for less than a year.
"Umm..." She rubbed her long brown hair with her right hand like she always did when she was nervous. "This!" She pointed at me. "is Chris Reed! He's my...best friend in college. We...lost touch last year when I moved to Milan."
Her expression changed. I knew that she was very much capable but making a lie to cover up for something personal is really hard. She shook her head and flashed a fake smile again.
"Chris, this is my boyfriend, Derek. We used to be next door neighbors before I went to college." She said.
"Yeah." Derek said giving Lindsey a peck. It was a weird sight since I've never seen anyone peck Lindsey but me. "We went to the same elementary, high school and she lived at the apartment right across ours. I talked to her every night before we went to sleep."
I frowned. Lindsey and I never talked before she went asleep. Even when we were already sleeping together, she never said anything. She'd just say 'I love you.' then, go to sleep. I never really pondered about that. I was never worried that Lindsey would have a different guy other than me. She never talked about her life before college. All I know was that she was a true blue New Yorker, she loved her life here and she's always wanted to be a fashion designer since she was young.
