"Lindsey's not in Rome but I know where she is."
~Like the sands of time, slippin' right on through and our love's the only truth. That's why I run to you.~
I scouted around Rome. I brought the tourist guide I got from the airport. I need to look for a local mall. Unlike Milan, Rome isn't as big in the world of fashion as it was there so what I need is to find a Ralph Lauren shop in a mall. I had much more luck here in Rome than I had in Milan. The first mall I scouted already had Ralph Lauren.
I smiled looking at the store's sign. This was easier than I thought. I went in and asked for their calling card so I could find the Ralph Lauren building in this city just like I did back in Milan. I took the calling card and showed it to the taxi driver. After about ten minutes, he dropped me off in the building. It was just like the one in Milan but a little smaller. I went in and as I expected, the layout and everything was the same.
I approached the receptionist. This one seemed much more friendly than the bitch I handled last time. I just hope that I wouldn't find another Callisto her in Rome. I still couldn't find it in my heart that Lindsey slept with someone else. Even though she was really drunk, I still couldn't accept it. I've been pretty lucky so far. I hope my luck won't run out. The receptionist looked up at me and smiled. I could tell that it wasn't fake so I gave her some credit.
"Hi! Welcome to Ralph Lauren! My name is Elena. How may I help you?" I was glad. She was American. I didn't have to worry if she didn't understand me.
"Hey. I was wondering. Do you know anyone named Lindsey or Daniela Gibbons?"
"May I know your name?" She asked.
"W-why?" I asked maintaining the smile in my face even though I could feel that it was faltering.
"Well, we keep a list of visitors, purely for protection reasons."
I hated it. What if Lindsey found out I was here? Based on her whole name-change thing, she didn't want to see me. She was avoiding me, in fact. What if she found out I was here and moved somewhere else? That would mean I'd have to continue finding her and everytime I came closer, she would just get away. I pushed those thoughts from my head and answered the receptionist.
"Chris...Chris Reed."
She was writing my name down when she stopped. She looked up at me with big eyes. She licked her bottom lips and asked. "Y-you're...Chris Reed?"
I nodded. What's wrong?
She put the pen and clipboard away. "You're Daniela's ex?"
I nodded again. This receptionist knew about Lindsey and my relationship! That meant she was close to Lindsey! Thank God. I was getting closer to Lindsey. I could feel it. The receptionist would lead me to her!
But now that I looked t her, I wasn't so sure. I couldn't tell if she was happy or mad or sad? All I know was that she was surprised. She shook her head and walked outside her desk to face me. "Are you here to look for her?"
"Yes." I answered.
"Listen, I'm sorry coz I'm really busy today but here." She went back to her desk. She searched through a small drawer on her desk and took out a key. "This is the key to Lindsey's apartment."
"Why?" I took it anyway. "Isn't she here? Why should I go there?..E-Elena?"
"Listen, Daniela told me the whole story. I was close to her. I still haven't decided about my feelings for what happened in your relationship, if I should support Daniela in moving on or if you guys should get back together but if you're looking for her, search through her apartment. The answers are there. I don't want to butt in in your relationship with her."
