Recap~

What did I just sing?  This isn't On My Own.  It's the song I've been dreading to sing, the one I've cursed out.  It felt like I was reliving a horrible memory to bring about something new and I expected it to all turn out well but...it wouldn't.

I almost stopped breathing.  It was as if a large arrow was pointing at a tall, muscular man with tanend skin, moppy blonde hair and the brightest blue eyes in the world and he was smiling at me.

~This could be the end of everything so why don't we go somewhere only we know?~

"So how do you like it?"  I smiled.

She looked over at me while her mouth was still full of popcorn.  She looked so adorable right at that moment.  "It's pretty cool, I guess...but I live in New York."

"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" I teased.

She chuckled loudly making her choke a little as some of the popcorn was still in her mouth.  "Face it, Reed.  Nothing beats New Year's Eve in NYC."

"Oh!" I continued to laugh.  "Just you wait, Gibbons.  Just you wait."

She laughed uncontrollably clenching her belly.  I liked how she laughed. It wasn't really the girliest thing in the world but it was still...very Lindsey.  I was the only one who could make her laugh so easily. Others had to make some really funny jokes to get her to laugh but I like how my charms worked on her.

"I love you."  I said.

I realized that this was one of the few times I said it since the two of us made up.  It used to be tossed around a lot back when we were in a relationship but ever since we met again, it hasn't been very common among us.

The atmosphere changed as Lindsey sipped her soda.  She gave me a weak smile and said it back quietly.  "I love you too."

We went back to our own businesses waiting for the Summer Music Festival to officially start.  There were already a lot of people and the stadium's almost full.  But I had to admit, we'd have to start talking some time.

"How's Danny?"  Lindsey attempted small talk.

"Why are we like this?"  I asked wanting to divert her 'small talk' and focusing on the situation really at hand.  "You want everything to seem perfect...but it's not.  There's clearly something you're still not comfortable with and as your...unofficial but loving boyfriend, I need to know what that is."

She simply shook her head.  "It's...I don't know what to say.  It's just that...with you around, everything just got so complicated and yet...everything seems such like a..."

"Fantasy?" I finished for her.  She stiffened sipping more of her soda.  "We'll deal with Derek later but right now, just enjoy our time alone.  Someday you'll see the light in this and the fantasy we share will be a fantasy you'll have forever."

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen!"

We looked over to the stage to see that the festival had started.  The stadium was booming with loud music and streaks of lights of different colors giving off this party-like effect.  People all over were screaming at the top of their lungs.  Most were composed of teenagers but there were still some in their twenties and thirties, families and other people all from Oaksville.  It was one of the most anticipated events of the year and I couldn't help but smiled at the fact that I not only missed Oaksville for its peace and serenity but also its people and how loud we could get when it came to the SMF.
