Chapter 9

Maria pov
After the first week of school, I felt it was a good time to introduce the campus to their new hero. I closed my door and shoved pillows under my bed sheets so it appeared as if someone was in bed. I suited up and opened my window. I slung my bow and quiver over my shoulder and climbed out my window. I closed my window and climbed to the roof. I took out the radio and tuned it so it was on the same frequency as the campus security.

I sat on the roof listening, when I heard a scream.

"Someone help." A girl screamed.

I stood up and fired a grappling arrow in the direction. And rode the line till it landed. A guy had a girl pinned up against the tree and lifting her skirt.

"Let her go." I said. He turned to me.

"Who're you?" He asked.

"Someone you don't wanna mess with." I said. "Now Let her go."

"What if I don't?" He asked as he walked toward me. The girl ran towards my dorm.

"Stay there," I drew my bow with a tranquilizer arrow.

"Or what?" He asked taking another step.

I fired the arrow and it hit him in the shoulder. It took a second but he collapsed as the lights on the main floor of the dorm turned on. I fired another grappling arrow and disappeared into the night.

The rest of the night was slow, I had to deal with a couple drunk kids wandering campus but it was slow night.

I went in early and climbed into my room and quickly changed. A knock came at my door.

"Maria are you awake?" Some one knocked on my door.

"Huh?" I acted groggily as I walked to the door and opened it.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Katie from the first floor was nearly raped right outside the dorm." Meleah from down the hall said.

"What?" I exclaimed pretending to be shocked.

"Is she alright?" I asked truly concerned.

I pushed past her and rand down the stairs. Majority of the girls were wake and now in the main room. Little Katie was sitting on the couch wrapped in a blanket crying as another girl comforted her.

"What happened?" I asked Meleah.

"She was walking back from the library when this guy came out of no where and jumped her. He pushed her up against a tree. Then some girl in a cape and mask showed up and saved her. The campus security just left with the guy and filed a report." Meleah Said.

"So we have a superhero on campus?" I asked.

"It seems so." Meleah said. "She's a Godsend. She saved me." Katie cried. I smiled.

I eventually went back to my room and I went to bed feeling good about what I did. I went to sleep and got a few hours of sleep before I had to get up for class.

After class, I went to archery practice. I met the coach at the range and there were three other girls on the team. I was the only one who was quick Fire archery. I stretched and then lined up. I put my headphones in and fired away till I was out of arrows.

My coach came over. "Damn Queen you're a good shot." He said.

I had hit the bullseye with every arrow. I instantly I would have to be slightly off with my aim if I were to be on this team.

I sat in my room finishing up my homework. I looked at my phone and I got a text message.

"Hey it's Magnus, club meeting in twenty minutes." It read.

I finished the last question. Then went and got my duffel bag and put my superhero suit and bow in the bag then grabbed my keys, wallet and phone. And brought it with me.

"Where are you going?" Hailey, another resident of the dorm asked me.

"Club meeting." I said.

"Be safe." She said.

"If we really have a campus hero, I'm sure I'll be fine." I Said.

"Just be safe." She said.

"I will," I Said. I left went went across campus to the Queen Building.

I found the room and four people were there. Magnus was one of them.

"Is this really all of the club?" I asked.

"Ya we're really small. It's mostly seen as a very nerdy club." He said.

"We'll come take a seat." He said. I put my bag down and sat down in the ring of chairs.

"Let's go around sat our name and someone about yourself. I'll start, I'm Magnus and I enjoy helping others." Magnus said he looked at me.

"Oh I'm Maria Kinsman-Queen and I'm originally from Santa Fe." I Said.

"That's awesome."  The only other girl Said.

"Thank you." I Said.

"I'm Ansel and I like to read." The guy sitting next to me Said.

"I'm Dylan and I'm good with computers." He said.

Then the other girl went. "I'm Taylor and I was once saved by Superman." She said.

"Really that's so cool." I Said.

"Looking back at it, it is." She said.

"Alright first issue of the meeting, a vigilante was seen last night on campus. She was seen using a bow and arrow so she could be a protégée of the Green Arrow." Taylor Said.

"Yes that most likely correct. But green arrow hasn't had a protégée since Artemis." Dylan said.

"You never know he may have been training her secretly." I said.

"What do you know about Green Arrow your from Santa Fe." Ansel said.

"I've lived in this city for three years I was adopted by Oliver Queen and Dinah Drake." I Said.

"What really?" Taylor asked.

"Ya, they adopted me last year."

"That's why they looked familiar," Magnus said.

"Yes that's why." I said.

We discussed the latest news of the superhero world.

After the meeting I suited up in a storage closet and started patrolling the campus.
