Chapter 45

Later when it was time for showers, I went. Selina came with me.

"Line up," the guard yelled as we lined up in front of a shower head.

The guard counted us. "we've got one extra." She said. "One needs to leave."

"Preggo go!" Grey Hood aka Kelly Jackson yelled at me.

"I'm not going, I got booted on showers last time." I said.

"I'll go," Selina said.

"No Zodiac go!" Shackled Cassidy said.

"I'm not going, I want a shower." I said.

"I will go," Selina said to the guard.

"Fine," the guard and Selina left and another guard came in.

"Come on ladies quicker you shower the more hot water you get." She said.

I undressed but kept my mask on. I went to the last shower and turned the water on, I enjoyed the sensation of the warm water cover my body. I grabbed the shampoo and started washing my hair. I then washed my face and body. I could feel the other women's eyes on me as I washed under my mask. But I'd gotten to a point where I could wash my face and no one see under my mask.

I had the urge to sing, so I let the words slip past my lips.

"It's not simple to say, but most days I don't recognize me." I sang.

My collar electrocuted me and I fell on my back.

"No singing in the shower." The guard said. I moaned as I passed out.

I woke up laying on the shower floor, no one else was in there with me. The guard who I'd rescued years ago came in she turned off the shower and helped me sit up,

"why are you still in here?" She asked.

"They shocked me for singing, I fell and passed outs. Guess they just left me." I groaned.

She gave me a towel and helped me up. I dried off and got dressed.

"They sent me in to see if you were dead," she said. A shiver crawled down my spine, and it wasn't from the cold.

"I hate it here," I said then she walked me back to my cell. Selina was sitting on the top bunk, she jumped off and hugged me.

"Where on earth were you?" She asked as she looked me over to see if I was hurt.

"They shocked me in the shower and then left me after I passed out." I said.

Selina made me sit down on the bed. That night She slept on the floor by my bed.

"Zodiac, your time is up." a guard approached me while I was visiting in the Men's ward.

"Well I'll see you all later." I Said as I got up.

I headed towards the door and I felt light headed. I stopped and my baby kicked.

"Zodiac are you alright?" The guard asked.

I shook my head. And the next thing I knew I was on the floor.

"Zodiac!" I kept hearing that yelled as I closed my eyes.

I woke up in the medical ward. A doctor was giving me an examination.

"She's malnourished." She said.

"We could have Batman take care of her." Someone suggested. I closed my eyes again.

Bruce pov
I was doing research in the BatCave when I got an incoming message from Belle Reve. I answered it.

"This is Batman," I said.

"Good evening Batman. I am Dr. Collins at Belle Reve. And I have Zodiac here and she's not doing well. We want to transfer her to you in Gotham." She said.

Dick jumped down and landed next to me. "Transfer her immediately." Dick said.

"We will meet you on the outskirts of town near the railroad tracks at midnight. Come alone." I said.

"Thank you," she said then hung up.

Dick pov
Bruce actually let me come on the mission. I sat on my motorcycle a few feet away from Jason and the BatMobile. Tim and Damien were covering us from the roof.

The prison bus pulled up and I got off my bike. The bus stopped and the three of us approached the door. The door opened and a woman in a lab coat.

"Can one of you carry her? She's been in and out of consciousness." she said.

I stepped onto the bus and saw my wife. Her swollen stomach caught my attention.

"How far along is she?" I asked.

"33 weeks." It was mine.

I went over to Maria and Picked her up. "She's very malnourished need to be on bedrest. Belle Reve doesn't have the resources to keep her and her baby healthy. I honestly don't want to see her child parish." She said.

"Thank you for taking care of her." I said.

Bruce and Jason left the bus and I followed them. I carried Maria to the BatMobile and Bruce opened the passenger door. I set her in the seat and got her buckled.

"Come on you two we need to get her back to the Cave." I radioed Damien and Tim.

As soon as we got to the cave. I jumped off my bike letting it fall over.

"Did you know she was pregnant?" Jason asked.

"No, but I think that explains why she didn't let us visit." I said.

"Still, she should have let us visit." Jason said.

"Well she didn't and I'm going to respect her reasons." I said as I carried Maria over to the table. I laid her on the table and I took her mask off.

"I'll prepare an IV." Bruce said.

"I'm going to take her to our room." I Said as I picked her up again.

"I'll bring it up." Bruce said as Alfred came down the stairs.

"Master Bruce, we have some company." Alfred said.

"Who? It's the middle of he night?" I asked.

"The Queens." Alfred said.

"They'll want to see her." Bruce said. I took Maria upstairs and Dinah and Oliver were in the library.

"Maria!" Dinah ran over to me.

"Is she alright?" I told them what the doctor from Belle Reve Had told us.

"They sent her to us knowing we could take better care of her than they could." I said.

We talked for a while till Bruce came up with the IV. Then I took Maria to our room and laid her on the bed. I put the IV in her arm and then got a rag and wiped her face off. I found some old clothes and I put them on her then and then re-soaked the rag and wrung it out before putting it on her swollen stomach. I rested my hand on her stomach and I felt a kick.

"Hello there." I whispered to her stomach. "This is Daddy. I'm gonna make sure you and Mommy are alright." I said. I felt another kick and Smiled.
