Chapter 2

As I got off the plane I noticed there was a boy

about 17, brown hair, serious yet playful face. He

was wearing khaki shorts and a plain white t-shirt.

"Hey." he said. I just stood there. "You must be

Whit." I nodded still unable to speak. "Welcome

Home sis." I didn't know what to say, so I

said,"Thanks." He motioned me to follow him and

we went to the parking lot where another boy was

waiting. He looked around 17,too. He had blonde

hair, and a sneer on his face. He was wearing black

shorts and a red t-shirt. "So you are the girl I have

been hearing about" he said,"my name is Randy."

"Whitney" I said. "Yo Alex, you won't mind if I took

her back to my place would you? You know

introduce her around." "Uh yea I would mind." Alex

said. "Aw come on dude don't be such a downer,

she needs to meet new people." he said as he

moved closer to me and I took a couple steps back.

"Don't worry I'm not gonna bite." he said as he

came even closer and I had backed into the truck.

"Leave Her Alone!" Alex said as he got in between

us. "Dude calm down." "No I will not calm down.

She has only been here for 5 minutes and here you

are trying to hook up with her." "You honestly think

I was gonna do that?" "Well you did with Madison,

Brooke, oh and Amanda." "Well that was a long

time ago." "Dude! That was 2 months ago!" "You

know what forget you." he said as he went and got

into a red ford and drove off. Then Alex grabbed

my stuff and put it on the back on the truck. Still

stunned I went and helped. After we finally got on

the road, he said,"Sorry about that. Randy is just

crazy sometimes." "It's fine." "Oh so you can talk."

he said. "Yes I can." He laughed then said," so how

old are you?" "I just turned 16." "Oh ok happy late

birthday." "Ha thanks." Maybe living with my

brothers wouldn't be so bad. "Here we are, your

new home." Alex said as we pulled onto a dirt road

that lead to a 2-story house. As he parked the truck

I got out and looked at the house. It was not what I

had excepted at all. After I saw that Alex had my

stuff and was heading up the porch I went and

grabbed the rest of it and followed him into the

house. "This is your room." Alex said dropping my

stuff on the floor. When I walked in I noticed there

was a queen size bed on one side, a desk on the

other and a small walk in closet. "This is mine?" I

asked him. "Yep and you have a balcony too."

"Why?" "Why what?" "Why are you giving me this

room?" "Cause we feel like we owe it to you." "The

only thing y'all could possibly owe me is answers."

With a sigh he said,"Sit down." I sat down on my

bed and waited for him to talk. "Ok when we were

about, I don't know, 5 or 6, we were staying here

with our grandparents while our mom was at work.

One day she came here drunk. While mamaw and

papaw was outside, she hit us. I think Jamie was at

school and we were just playing around. Well she

got something and cut me with it. Then she hit you.

Jamie came in and saw what she did to us then he

ran and told mamaw and papaw. They called the

police and took us away to live in foster homes.

Jamie stayed here cause he wasn't hurt like us.Then

later on when I was 8 or 9 they found me and

raised me to this day. We tried to look for you too

but they said that you wasn't at any foster home

anywhere. We didn't know where you was and tried

to look for you at our other grandmas but we didn't

have any way to contact her. Then when I went on a

trip to ". " I saw you. You was looking around at

this store or whatever and I knew I had seen you

someplace before, so I asked this lady who worked

there who you was and she said "Why that is

Whitney. Rose's grandchild." Then I called Jamie and

told him and that's how we found you. Now here

we are." "Wow" I said. "Did she really do that to

us?" Then he showed me his arm, where there was

a long line going across it. I traced my fingers

across his scar and then he said,"You have one too."

"What? Where?" I asked and he motioned me to

turn around. Then he pulled up my shirt and traced

his finger along a scar that went across my back.

Then he said, "Plus you have a spot right here

where she hit you." "I always thought that was a

birthmark." "Sorry sis." he said as I turned back

around. Still shocked about what he had told me I

started to cry and he pulled me into a hug. Then I

hear footsteps come into my room and I felt Alex

shake his head. Then the footsteps went back the

way they came. "I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't be

crying." I finally said as I got up and crossed my

arms. "It's fine, it doesn't hurt to cry once in a

while. Besides I did the same thing when they told

me the same story." He said as he came and gave

me another hug. I wrapped my arms around him

and said "Thank you." "No problem." He replied as

he pulled away and said," I want to show you

something." As he grabbed my hand and we ran

into the yard. Outside there was this beautiful

horse waiting for someone to ride her.
