just really like this song, and it makes me think of Olivia and Tom (Tolivia?). idk love you <3

Another few weeks went by, and then it was the Hogsmeade weekend before Halloween. Every year, there was a Halloween party, when all of the older students were required to dress up as something.

Required.

Halloween wasn't Olivia's favourite holiday, she much preferred Christmas, but she still liked dressing up. She, Gabriella and Eve were discussing what they were going to go as whilst they made their way down to Hogsmeade village.
"I think I'll go as an angel," Eve said. "You know, because I'm such a blessing to you both."
"Then I'll go as El Diablo, and you can go as just the devil," Olivia suggested to Gabriella.
"Liv, I think she was being sarcastic. And now it's raining cats and dogs," Gabriella groaned, grabbing Olivia's umbrella (she was usually the only one prepared out of the three) and opening it.
"No, it's just raining water," Olivia told her, confused.
"Olivia!" Both girls screamed, making Olivia jumped.
"How can you still not figure out what's literal and what's not?" Gabriella asked, as Eve hit Olivia with the umbrella.
"Because it's not my first language!" Olivia replied, moving to the other side of Gabriella to avoid getting hit anymore. "Anyway, back to costumes."
"Maybe you should go as an angel, Liv," Eve suggested, "because you're so innocent."
"You go as the devil," Gabriella told Eve.
"And you go as the devil too, Gabs!" Eve exclaimed. "We've got it! A group costume."
"If we had male friends, we could get one of them to go as God," Eve said.
"We could ask Alex. Or James. Or John. Or- wait, that's it for the guys in our year, isn't it?" Olivia asked.
"At least in Hufflepuff, yeah," Eve nodded. "Huh. Dunno why I thought it was bigger. Maybe it's all the other houses. We're a small Hufflepuff group."

They'd gone through with their costumes after all, and they looked good. Olivia herself felt pretty damn pretty, and she was almost glowing.
"If we don't have men by the end of the night, then they're obviously all taken," Eve commented, looking at herself in the mirror. "Anyway, we best get going before all the food goes," she added, turning around.
"Liv, if all else fails, change Tom with your looks!" Gabriella told her friend. Eve nodded in agreement.
"We've already discussed this. That's Plan Z," Olivia reminded her as they made their way to the Great Hall.
"So what's in between all that?" Eve questioned.
"I do not know yet," Olivia confessed. "But I think I have at least two extra plans."
"Yeah? Will you share?"
"Not just yet. Only if Plan A fails." The Hufflepuff common room was not far from the Great Hall, and next thing they knew, they were in the big room, where lights were flashing and Eve spotted the food table first. She dragged her friends over.
"Look! Food!" she exclaimed.
"Yes, Eve, we know. We can see it," Gabriella said, like she was explaining something to a baby. Eve just stuck her tongue out at the two.
"Come on, let's go dance," Olivia suggested to Gabriella, and grabbed her friend by the arm as they made their way to the dance floor. At this point in the night, all the teachers were gone, trusting the prefects and heads to keep everyone in control.

Of course, they didn't care.

Apart from Tom, it seemed, who was sat on the side, just watching. With a drink in his hand, but he wasn't drinking it. Olivia accidentally made eye contact with him, and she quickly turned Gabriella and herself around.
"Ay, Dio," Olivia muttered. "I made eye contact."
"Why is that such a bad thing?" Gabriella asked. "You could maybe get some?" She wriggled her eyebrows.
"Get some what?" Olivia asked. "Food? Cause at this rate, Eve'll have finished it all." Gabriella snorted.
"So, so innocent," she muttered. They danced for two songs before fellow Hufflepuff John Bunker made his way over.
"Hiya, girls," he greeted, smiling.
"Hola," the girls replied. Olivia had been speaking to Gabriella in Spanish the past few minuted in order to get her friend more fluent.
"Mind if I steal Olivia from you?" he asked Gabriella.
"She's all yours. Now, I'm going to rescue Eve from vomiting," Gabriella excused herself. John took Gabriella's place.
"So," he started. "How's patrol been with Riddle?" he asked.
"Very exciting," Olivia told him. "He's finally giving me a nod goodbye." John laughed.
"That is good to hear. And it's nice to know you do know what sarcasm is."
"Apparently, my problema is hearing it."
"I think it's just idioms you're bad with," John told her earnestly. "Not that it's a problem. It's a cute quirk."
"Thank you, John. Someone who finally appreciates it." At that exact moment, the song changed to a slow one. John looked at Olivia and held out a hand.
"What say you?" he asked.
"Yo digo si," Olivia replied smiling, taking his hand. As they started to dance together, Olivia was turned to face Tom.

Who was staring right at Olivia.

This time Olivia couldn't break the eye contact, and it made her breathless. She tilted her head up a little as she danced with John. John moved back so he could look at Olivia whilst they danced.
"I like that they get students to perform," he said, like he was looking for conversation. "It gets out the talent the students have."
"I know," Olivia replied, slowly looking away from Tom to look at John. "Some of the students are pure brilliance." He smiled at her.  They danced the couple minutes longer the song was, but Olivia couldn't help move her gaze back to Tom, who probably hadn't moved at all. As the song finished, Tom got up and left. His costume also happened to be the devil, Olivia noticed, and surprisingly enough, the crimson red suit looked good on him. Once the final note was hit, Olivia stepped away from John.
"Perdón," she excused herself, moving to the path Tom just took. She had no idea why she was following him, but it felt... right?

Olivia went as far as just outside the entrance to the school, where she stood outside to get a breath of fresh air. She did feel dizzy, after all. She ran a hand through her hair as someone talked behind her.
"Nice costume," Tom complimented, making Olivia swirl on the spot (it was easier in heels). He still held a plastic red cup in his hand.
"Gracias," she replied. "You don't look too bad yourself."
"So, John Buker?" he asked suddenly. Olivia must've looked confused, because he added, "He seems into you."
"John?" Olivia shrugged. "I don't think so. Or, at least, he's not my type."
"Really? Then what is your type?" Tom asked. Olivia blanket. Were they flirting? He took a sip of his drink and chucked it to the side. "I think you should get back inside," he suggested. "Your friends must be worried."
"Well, if I know my amigas, Gabriella's probably found herself a new guy and Eve may be vomiting from too much food. I can hold my own," she told him, taking a step closer and cursing herself at the same time. Was this part of the plan? She shook her mind clean. "Your friends?"
"My acquaintances," Tom corrected, "know I'm fine on my own too."
"Acquaintances? Everyone needs someone to rely on," Olivia said.
"I think it's a weakness."
"What about when you need help? Or someone to talk to?"
"People can betray you."
"Not everyone. Trust works both ways. I trust Eve and Gabriella because they earned it. They trust me because I earned it. Not because I give it out like los dulces on this damn holiday."
"I might take that advice, Ramirez," he said, and Olivia didn't have time to come up with a reply because he moved forwards and closed the gap between them.

He kissed her.
