The cool water laps against your body as you float on your back. Above you, the dark sky sparkles with stars and is void of any clouds. You loved swimming at night, even though the air around you was a bit colder than it would be during the day.

Typically when you went swimming at night there were very few, if any other people there. It was peaceful and it gave you time to think.

You shift from your back and dunk under the water, the water forming around your head. All other sounds grow dull, a calmness passing through your every muscle and bone. You swim a couple feet and then pop up, out of the water and rub your hands over your hair.

As you wipe the water out of yours eyes, the first thing that comes into your vision is the lifeguard climbing down from her spot on the tower. Your eyes follow her as she walks towards the room where all the lifeguards hangout when they aren't on duty.

"Bye, Jaehyun ," you overhear her say to the lifeguard who is taking her spot, and then she walks out of the exit, apparently done for the day.

The new lifeguard, apparently named Jaehyun , makes his way across the cement and over to his tower. As he effortlessly climbs up it, you notice how good-looking he is. At least, from what you can tell based on the night lighting.

His back muscles strain against his t-shirt and he appears to be tall and lean, but apparently muscular as well. Once he turns and sits down in the chair, he looks out at the water. Your eyes widen as you realize that he's looking directly at you.

He smiles at you and gives you a little wave. You give him a small smile before diving back into the water from embarrassment.

You kick your feet and move your arms outward, propelling yourself forward and towards the wall. Your hand takes hold on the wall and you pull yourself up. Turning your head, you look out and towards the other side of the pool.

Something that you enjoyed to do when you were the only one in the pool was see how far across you could make it, without taking a breath. Typically, you could make it all the way with no problem, thanks to your large lungs.

Closing your eyes, you take a couple of deep breaths to prepare your lungs. Once they feel adequately ready, you take a huge breath and plunge under the cold water and push yourself off of the wall.

You put your feet together and move your legs up and down as if you're a mermaid.
The calm quiet around you is suddenly interrupted by a loud splash. Your eyes open under the water, seeing nothing but darkness and the blurry pool light. Then, you feel strong arms wrap around your bare stomach, pulling you up and out of the water.

You break the surface and sputter, the water pouring off of you. The arms drop from around your and you wipe the water out of your eyes. "What the hell?" You burst out at whoever just grabbed you.

You gasp as your eyes focus on the dripping face of the male lifeguard that had waved at you minutes before.

Jaehyun's dark hair was going in five different directions and the water was rolling down his face. "I thought you were drowning," he said in a deep voice.

"You thought I was...drowning?" You repeat back to him in a shocked tone.
He raises an eyebrow at you. "Yeah, that's what I just said. Are you sure you weren't?"

"Of course not," you say. "I was trying to swim across the length of the pool."

"You were under the water for such a long time, I got worried," he said and even in the faint light you could see the concern on his face.

You give him a small reassuring smile. "I'm okay. I'm sorry I made you jump into the water in your shirt."

The handsome lifeguard looked down at his now soaked shirt and shrugged. "Who needs a shirt at the pool?" He reaches down into the water and pulls the shirt up and over his head.

The water pours off of it and back down onto him. He squeezes his eyes shut before shaking his hair, causing the water to spray on you.
You don't move, just stay right where you are with a look of disbelief plastered on your face.

"I'm Jaehyun , by the way..." he trails off as he takes in your freshly wetted face. Jaehyun cringes. "Did I do that?"

You laugh and then splash some water at him. "Yes!"

Jaehyun aughs and then splashes you back. "Well, I'm not sorry."

"Take that back!" You exclaim.

"I will do no such thing," he says in a firm tone, but a smirk appears on his face.
"Oh yes you will," you say with a grin as you leap at him.

Jaehyun ives out of the way before you land on him, and submerges under the water. You look around you, trying to find him, but you can't see him anywhere. That's weird, he couldn't have just disappeared, you think to yourself. As you start to get concerned, hands wrap around your ankles and pull.

You let out a scream just as you are pulled under the water.

The bubbles around you spiral up to the surface as you flail around. Jaehyun's  hands release your legs and you push yourself up into the air again. When you open your eyes you see Jaehyun a few feet away, smirking at you.

"You are very sneaky," you say to him and narrow your eyes.

He shrugs his shoulders as if it's no big deal. "One of the many things I'm good at."

"What are some other things you're good at?" You ask and your mind betraying you goes to many places it shouldn't have. You feel your cheeks warm up and are grateful for the darker light around you.

Jaehyun oves slowly closer to you until he is inches from you, so close that you are afraid that if the water moves a certain way, it will push you into him. He grins at you and says, "Wouldn't you like to know?"

"I might," you say in a low voice, unintentionally looking down at his lips. When you look back up to his eyes, you see that he is looking into yours, and you know he saw what you were just staring at.

Jaehyun eans in towards you and your breath catches in your throat. Just as he is about to kiss you, you dunk under the water and push yourself backwards. When you come back up, you don't see Jaehyun anywhere. Your heart starts beating in your chest, afraid of him lurking somewhere in the water.

Strong arms shoot out from behind you and wrap around your stomach. You squeal, your heart beating quickly in your chest. "Jaehyun !" You yell and cover your face with your hands.

Jaehyun moves his arms, but instead of freeing you he grips your sides and turns you around in his arms. Your eyes widen at his hands on your bare skin, enjoying the feel of it a little too much. Since your legs are bumping up against his, you decide the smart and convenient thing to do would be to wrap them around his back.

Your thighs squeeze his sides and you hook your feet together, your heels bumping into his lower back. You slide your arms behind his neck and lock your hands together. You are basically now his own personal human koala.

Jaehyun's eyes seem to widen, but then he smirks. Before you even have time to gasp, Jaehyun pushes his lips into yours and grips your thighs with his hands, pulling you even more against him. Your eyes close and you kiss him back, moving your lips in harmony with his. As you tangle your fingers in his wet hair he squeezes your legs and it sends an electric current through your body.

Jaehyun pulls back slightly, breathing heavily, and rests his forehead against yours. "What was it that you said your name was?"

"I didn't," you say in between erratic breaths and smile. "But it's Y/N."

"Nice to meet you Y/N. Do you want some hot chocolate?" Jaehyun says abruptly and then leans back and tucks a strand of your hair behind your ear, smiling sweetly.

"That sounds wonderful," you say with a laugh, copying his sweet action and brushing his hair off his forehead.

Your heart was still racing and a permanent blush was on your face as you two made your way to the side of the pool. Jaehyun pulled himself out and then reaches his hand down to you, which you happily take. There was something so hot yet gentlemanly about him.

There was one thing for sure though and that was that this was certainly not what you had expected to happen when you decided to go to the pool that night, but boy did you like it...
