Poem #62

"Tears were pooling in my eyes
As I tried to warn her about how broken I am
But she didn't care
I pushed on,
"If you took me apart, looked inside my head and held my breaking heart, you'd run away"
Without even thinking twice, she told me that wasn't true
That she was here now and she wouldn't leave
I clenched my fist till they turned white and screamed
"Why can't you see me the way I see myself?!"
The words slipped from my lips, tears running off my face to make a pool at my feet that I'm starting to drown in
Her reply was almost instant, soothing everything I was worried about
"Why can't you see you the way I see you?"
My heart got caught in my chest making it hard for me to breathe and my world was no longer dying
Somehow, I wasn't shaking
Or screaming
Or breaking apart
She continued on, oblivious to the effect she had on me a few seconds ago
"How beautiful and amazing you are"
Her words planted them self in my heart, invading it's dead garden
But from them grew flowers and vines sowing together the cracks so it wouldn't break anymore
So then, I smiled and whispered
"Darling, because how you see me is an unreal fantasy."
