i still remember how it felt to wake up next to you
and feel your head on my chest
your arms around my tiny figure
the sound of your breathing keeping me calm
I still remember how it felt to play with your hair in the car
and squeeze your hand while we crossed the street
while people stared at us in confusion
but we just smiled at each other happily
I still remember the night you cried while I held you
how your trembling body felt against my stomach
and your salty tears against my skin
you were so scared
but you said I kept you safe
so I hugged you tighter
I still remember the day we first met
and I ran and hugged you
like a movie scene
I used to fall asleep thinking about that moment
you said you did too
I still remember all the songs you told me to listen to
the ones that made your heart hurt
the ones that helped you smile
and the ones that reminded you,of me
they're on shuffle inside my head
constantly
theres never been a pause button
I still remember the day you promised you'd never leave
when we sat down and made plans about the future
our future
the only future for myself I could see
the places you said we'd visit
and the things we'd accomplished
"we'll make it to do this"
you grabbed my hand, and flashed a soft smile
and I believed you
I still remember the smell of your perfume
and the giraffe you gave
along with the pictures of us
and notes
and sour patch kids
and drawings
and memories
I hold them to my heart when I miss
you
I still remember love ,
do you?
