"What are you doing in my building?" Mr. Remora asked slowly.
I opened my mouth to answer but didn't get the chance as he continued speaking, cutting me off at the very start.
How very convenient.
"This was your plan all along wasn't it? Destroy me? That's your motive?" he asked with a menacing glare. "First on that trip and now at my workplace?" he growled.
"I am not trying to-" I tried to interject, but the hard headed CEO would not hear me out.
"How dare you come here after all the time you have caused me to lose and all the problems you have caused for my company. You are the reason why I lost three business deals two months ago and I'll have you know I don't take the loss of business deals lightly, especially if it is caused by one measly bag of flesh." he informed me in the harshest way you can imagine it being said in. "If you had ever thought that I would even allo-" he cut his sentence short and rose an eyebrow before narrowing his eyes at me. I rose an eyebrow as well. I had to wonder what kind of crazy scenario he was going to conjure up now.
"Unless... Unless you are one of those brainless girls who think that they can get a man of wealth to fall at their feet with the imaginary charms they think they possess." he accused making me go ballistic. See! Told you he was gonna come up with something crazy! And one of those brainless girls? How dare he! Brainless?! Me?! The nerve of this man! Plus me? After him?! He has got to be on something to think that I'd ever want him after everything that happened at that castle!
"Excuse me mister because-I-was-born-rich-and-am-a-billionaire-that-means-I-know-it-all, but I'll have you know that the reason I am here is solely to tell Mr. Gordon that I cannot accept his very noble and thoughtful job offer. I'll have you know that I would prefer to kill my reputation my scrubbing dirty pots at the nastiest restaurant I can find than to work under an arrogant bastard like you!" I shouted as my temper flared.
Mr. Remora's temper didn't seem to differ as his jaw and fists clenched as he turned to a shivering Mr. Gordon.
"You offered her a job here?" he asked in a frighteningly calm way.
"Y-yes s-s-sir, I didn't think that you'd have a problem!" he said desperately.
"Didn't think I'd have a problem?" he asked incredulously. "You didn't think that I would have a problem with you hiring the girl who shot me months ago coming to work at my house?" he gritted out through his teeth. Mr. Gordon's eyes widened as his brain seemed to register Mr. Remora's words and he realized his mistake.
"She's the one who sh-shot you?" he whispered, cowering in fear. Mr. Remora did not need to answer as Mr. Gordon got the message from the way his boss' eyes threatened to burn holes into his body and how they also twitched.
Moments of silence passed and after realizing that this was either gonna end in Mr. Gordon peeing his pants or Mr. Remora burning his employee's head off, I finally decided to say something.
"Listen Mr. Remora, I have no interest in working for you and I'm sure that you have no interest in paying me either. I think we could both agree that the best thing for us is for me to leave and never show my face here again," I suggested before mumbling to myself, "I would have no problem with that at all."
He turned to me and was about to say something but suddenly Mr. Gordon came forward and whispered something to him. I watched as Mr. Remora's eyebrows raised and his eyes widened ever so slightly.
"Is that so?" he asked him seeming mischievous as Mr. Gordon nodded, swallowing nervously. Mr. Remora took a seat on his chair once more and faced me with a glint in his eyes. My suspicions heightened. What exactly had Mr. Gordon whispered to him? Whatever it was, I knew I would never like it.
