"Marry me... Please."
Yoongi watched Jimin's expression closely. Even the slightest move could be a sign and he needed to read that sign.
At first, the younger's brows were knited together in a frown, but it wasn't out of anger. It was out of confusion.
Jimin's head tilted to the side slightly, as if he was processing the sudden proposal.
Yoongi's eyes now focused on Jimin's full lips which had formed a small 'o' as he structured his words in his head. He was pretty sure Jimin had stopped breathing.
The older waited.
It seemed like forever before Jimin's eyebrows loosened the frown and slightly raised up, his lips now forming a smile. "Here? In South Korea? Us marrying?"
Of course not in South Korea. It was still illegal for marriages of the same gender. "Wherever it's possible. We can go there."
"Yoongi, you're rushing things now, aren't you?"
"No I'm not. I've loved you since I was eighteen, Jimin. I'm not waiting another day, nor am I letting you go home right now."
Jimin's gaze on him softened and he kept quiet for a few moments. "I'll see you this weekend, Yoongi."
Wait. What?
"Jimin, I just proposed to you."
"I know. I heard you." The younger smiled.
"Then... Then you won't answer me?"
"Jimin was with another man."
"Jimin?"
The younger kept smiling, even after he pecked Yoongi's lips and turned towards the door, leaving a dumbfounded Yoongi alone.
Yoongi kept staring at the closed door even after what seemed like a good minute, until a text came through to his phone.
Peeling away his eyes from the door, Yoongi looked down to his unlocked phone and checked the message.
Jimin
(Thank me now)Yes.
It might have been the late night that made Yoongi's brain churn slower, or the confusion left by Jimin but when his mind finally worked again, Yoongi found himself running out of his door towards Jimin.
Jimin who waited right outside.
Yoongi never thought his heart would beat this fast or the breath that left his lips felt like an eight-year-old burden let go as he stood in front of crying Jimin, waiting outside of Yoongi's door with his phone in his hand.
For the first time, Yoongi finally felt all their promises were fulfilled.
Pulling Jimin into his arms and into his kiss, Yoongi knew this time, Jimin was here to stay.
Jimin waited outside for Yoongi to come and save him for the last time.

"You've lost weight." Yoongi whispered as they lied in bed together, still fully clothed. No, they didn't go all the way, in fact, Yoongi thought the moment right now was perfect as it was.
"I just lost my baby fat."
Yoongi laughed softly. "I missed your baby fat."
"What else?"
"Hmm?"
"What else did you miss?"
Yoongi smiled. "Your freckles, the way your eyes disappear when you smile, your voice, your laughs and giggles, your warm skin, your touch, your teasings, your thighs, your walk, the way you touch your face when you're nervous, y—"
"Okay! That's a lot." Jimin giggled.
"And..." Yoongi leaned closer, "your lips."
They had kissed before, after meeting up again. But somehow, right now it felt different.
It felt complete.
"Did you find what was missing?" Yoongi whispered again. The moment was too soft to be speaking loud. That and the fact that Jimin was only inches away from him.
Jimin smiled. "It was me."
Yoongi kept quiet, waiting for the young man to continue.
"I was missing a part of me and I thought I could fill it in with you, but whenever we were apart, I just felt miserable for depending on you to feel whole. I felt incomplete on my own. When I left for Saint Andrews, I felt emptier but the classes, assignments, getting adjusted to the new environment made me realize the world is bigger than just me."
Yoongi watched as Jimin tried to structure his words better so the older could understand his point.
"I realized, I lost so many things in life — dad, mom, grandma, stability — that it was only going to be filled up by getting all those back."
"What do you mean?"
"I finally talked to dad again. Of course we're still not in the best of relationship but I've forgiven him. I've let go. That made me feel good."
"And your mom?"
"I blamed myself for not being there when she died. But then it hit me, if I can forgive dad, why couldn't I forgive myself? I'm still in the process of doing so. The counselor at the university told me it was because I didn't give myself time to truly grieve. That whole month in Busan was just me feeling guilty."
At this point, Yoongi's throat closed up a little as how much he still didn't know about Jimin. But he felt relieved that Jimin made an effort of confiding in someone who could help.
"I've forgiven Grandma too, especially since I barely knew her. It wasn't fair for me to think this and that about her when I don't know her story."
Jimin smiled. "The life we had before, I simply decided to rebuild it on my own. That's why it took me four years. They offered me a scholarship for my master's degree and that in turn got me a guaranteed job in Lotte Chemicals. Which is where I am now."
"Wait. You're done with master's degree now?"
Giggling, Jimin shook his head. "No. I'm completing it long distanced now. While working."
Jimin had his studies, his work and his life, Yoongi had to ask,
"And where do I come in, Jimin?"
