Draco had never been more nervous about a meeting with a teacher before in his life, he wasn't sure if it was the actual teacher that made him nervous or the fact that there were hundreds of things around him that could very easily kill him. Most likely a combination of both, but Draco would never admit any of that.

"you needed to speak with me, Professor?" Draco asked, almost out of habit from back in Hogwarts. He put his hands into his pockets to hide his fidgety fingers.

Newt chuckled, "there's no need to call me that anymore Draco," Newt stated. He was tending to his creatures as he talked to Draco, not really fully looking at him while they spoke.

Draco nodded, even though he knew Newt couldn't see him, "right, sorry sir," he corrected himself. He swallowed anxiously, "what did you need to ask me?" he questioned trying to move the topic to what he originally came in here for and not his own awkwardness.

"Right," Newt sighed, he moved from one creature to another taking care of and feeding each one as he did so, "about you and (y/n)," he began. His tone seemed concerned, but it wasn't clear if he really was.

Suddenly Draco felt his heart stop, did Newt not want them together? Was he about to tell Draco that he didn't approve? Draco thought he was about to start sweating buckets, "Um.. y, yeah sir? what about me and (y/n)?" he stuttered.

Newt chuckled, "calm down tiger," he teased, "you two are cute together, I'm not about to split you up," he promised. He was amused by how wound up Draco seemed to get when he thought his relationship with (y/n) was in danger.

Draco sighed in relief, his stomach loosened, "th, thank you, sir," he couldn't help but stutter again. He felt like such an idiot, he didn't do anything wrong, did he? He couldn't remember doing anything that would upset Newt or get him into any trouble with the Goldstein family, at least, not recently.

Newt smiled, "but there is something I want to ask you," he stated, "something you may not be able to answer, but you're my only hope," Newt turned to look at Draco, "is she okay?" he asked.

Draco was startled by Newt's question, why would he know if she was okay? He's been an ocean away for months. Then he suddenly remembered her scars, something he was too scared to even remember seeing. He bit the inside of his cheek, "what do you mean sir?" he questioned.

"He know's what you mean," a new voice joined in on the conversation, a female voice.

Draco turned around to see a woman standing behind him, it was the same woman he saw with Jacob at the theatre. That must be Queenie, Draco thought to himself. He extended his hand out to her, "you must be Queenie Goldstein, (y/n)'s adoptive mother," he stated.

Queenie nodded and shook his hand, "and you're Draco Malfoy, a pure-blood Slytherin from a family of death eaters, fifth year, an only child, the seeker for the Slytherin Quidditch team," she rambled off a list of facts about Draco, and Draco wasn't sure if it was from (y/n) telling them about him or if she was getting the information some other way.

Draco let go of her hand, "how do you know all of that?" he asked, he stepped back subconsciously, he suddenly felt like a cornered animal.

Queenie just kept going, "you got your dark mark last year, it still isn't agreeing with you, but you refuse to tell anyone about it because you're afraid they'll all mock you for it," he eyes looked as though they were slowly changing color. "You think she can save you, you think she can help you get out of your miserable life so you aren't doing anything to fix it yourself."

"Queenie stop!" Newt commanded, he stepped in between the two of them, as though to block some sort of connection. She seemed to snap out of it and go back to normal like she had been possessed by some sort of demon. "You didn't need to listen to that much," Newt stated.
