(Y/n) headed back to New York once summer started, traveling to Kings Cross Station on the Hogwarts Express, and then from there she took a boat to Manhantan. Newt and Jacob were both waiting for her when she got off the boat, she ran up to them and hugged them both tightly.

"Welcome home little Bowtruckle," Newt chuckled, hugging (y/n) back tightly. (Y/n) pulled away from the two of them with a large smile on her face and tears rolling down her face.

(y/n) wiped her eyes, "it's good to be back," she sniffled, "I felt like I was never going to come home," she chuckled.

Jacob pulled (y/n) into another hug, "we all missed you so much," Jacob took a deep breath, but his breathing was shakey, and it was clear that he was trying to keep himself from crying.

"I missed you guys too," (y/n) smiled, she never really had the time to write home after Dumbledore was killed, and they didn't allow many things in or out of Hogwarts for the remainder of the school term.

Newt smiled at (y/n), "come on, let's go home, Tina and Queenie are making dinner for everyone," he stated happily. He ruffled up the hair on top of (y/n)'s head like a big brother would and smiled at her again. Newt took the case from (y/n)'s hand and carried it for her while they began to walk back to the apartment.

Queenie was working on her famous apple stroodle when (y/n), Newt, and Jacob arrived back at the apartment. Tina came out of her room quickly at the sound of the apartment door opening.

"(y/n), you're home!" Queenie exclaimed in her usual quiet and hushed voice, "how are you?" she asked, setting her wand down and coming up to hug (y/n) comfortingly. Queenie's hugs were always the best, they were gentle and warm like there was a blanket being wrapped around you every time.

(y/n) smiled, "I'm wonderful, I'm glad to be home," she stated, hugging Queenie back tightly.

Tina came up and hugged (Y/n) as well, giving a similar greeting with another warm smile before she went to helping Queenie prepare dinner.

(Y/n) took her things and put them away in her room. She found a stack of unopened letter sitting on her desk, almost all of them from different senders. There was one from Luca, another from Ray, one from Luna, Hermione, and Harry, and then there was three different letters from Draco. (Y/n), read the other letters, but left the ones from Draco untouched.

(Y/n) took a pad of parchment and a pen to the living room of the apartment and began to write responses to the letters she had gotten. Once Tina and Queenie had finished making dinner (y/n) set the parchment down and went to eat with everyone else. It was nice to eat dinner with them again, in a way it was better than eating at the Great Hall.

(Y/n) told them all about what had been going on at Hogwarts, leaving out a few of the details involving Draco, they didn't really need to know about that anyway. (Y/n) didn't want to worry any of them with all of that anyways.

It hurt to even think about Draco. (y/n) had hidden his letters at the bottom of her desk drawer so she wouldn't have to look at his name staring at her from across the room, but everything seemed to remind her of him.

"How's Aslan?" (y/n) asked Newt, snapping out of her trance as she turned to look up at him, fiddling with her fork on her plate. She bit the inside of her cheek nervously, hoping it wasn't too obvious how upset she was about everything that had been happening.

Newt turned to look at her as well, "he actually hasn't been doing all too well, not since April at least, he's gone back to his thestral form and won't let anyone near him," Newt explained.
