Kyles POV
Holding a glass of scotch in my hand, and in another, I viciously scratched my head. The trial was almost over, and it seemed like my plan was beginning to fall apart. Sitting up on the witness stand didn't feel like such a good idea at all.
I've always liked the quietness of my home, but today the quietness killed me with every breath I took. The ring on my door scared me.
Dammit, it must be Sharen; for the first time, I missed seeing that wicked woman. I unlocked the door, and it wasn't her; to my surprise, it was Cindy. I quickly disguised the shock on my face with a smile, trying hard to fool her, of course.
"Oh, lucky me, is it my birthday? Surely it must be, because if it wasn't, then I wouldn't know what is."
