chapter one
one night

• • •

JISOO STOOD BEHIND the reception desk, standing up straight and smoothing down the pencil skirt she had on, which was part of her uniform. She wanted to look as presentable as possible, with red lips shining with gloss and a smile, and black hair neatly done in a bun.

A guest approaches towards the desk with shades on. The female customer dressed in a black jacket, denim jeans and sunglasses on, eyed the attractive receptionist standing before her.

"Hello, welcome to Gugsu Hotel. How may I help you today?" The receptionist had tones of sweet and welcoming assorted into her voice, like it seemed natural and genuine.

"A room for one. Just staying for the night," the sun-glassed female responded briefly. She placed a lock of brown hair behind her ear, before pulling out her wallet from her purse and preparing the cash she had to pay.

"Okay. Just fill this paper up," Jisoo handed out the piece of paper with the details customer had to fill in.

The other female nodded, taking the pen provided on the desk in her hand and writing down the necessary information. She then gave back the paper to Jisoo, and Jisoo wrote down her room number and signed the paper with the hotel's signature.

"That will be ₩150,000, and here is your room key with your room number," Jisoo flashed a smile, handing over the key with the designated room number embedded onto it.

The female guest handed over some cash, and took the key with her. "Keep the change." she smiled back, walking away to her room.

Jisoo watched as her figure disappeared into one of the halls that lead to the elevator. The female glanced over at Jisoo, and caught her staring at her. She took a short moment to giggle at the receptionist, before the doors of the elevator opened up and she steps in.

A soft pink blush crept onto Jisoo's cheeks, causing her to look away. Her lips unconsciously form into a smile, knowing that she had been seen by the strange looking lady.

She just thought that why would someone with no luggages with them, and wore shades in the evening, would be booking a stay at the hotel. She might as well just get used to the different types of people that stay over at the hotel she worked in.

⋯⋯

Jennie inserted the key into the door of her room, twisting it and unlocking the door. She pushed it open and took a look at the room given to her.

Neat, she thought. It was a fairly small suite, with a subtle golden glow coming from the light bulbs. It had a surprisingly large bed for just one person, but Jennie didn't mind—rather, she preferred this type of room than others.

She walked further inside, plopping down on the white sheeted bed, bouncing herself on it a little. She took off the sunglasses she had on and placed them on the desk next to the bed, which had a little lamp on it.

She looked up towards the ceiling, her gaze fixated on the smooth concrete. Thoughts about the receptionist started to swirl around her mind, resulting in a deep sigh.

"So... Kim Jisoo is still here." she told herself in a soft voice, her arms resting on the top of her stomach with her hands holding each other.

She had a moment of silence to herself, mostly because she had a lot going on her mind right now. Thoughts, even she couldn't comprehend well enough herself. There were these thoughts about the receptionist, that really made her wonder if she saw the right person.

Slowly, without realizing it, her lids shielded her eyes and she was dozing off, with the bed still neatly made, and most things had not been touched yet, Jennie falls asleep.

⋯⋯

The next morning — the sun's shining rays poured itself through the window of Jennie's hotel room. The light poked her in the eyes, which caused them to flutter open. She slowly sat up with a yawn. She stretched out her arms and legs, trying to wiggle off the drowsiness she felt waking up.

She scratched her head, and it looked quite messy with some strands sticking out and her hairstyle had been ruined while her head was laid on the duvet in the nightly hours.

"Ugh... how long was I asleep for?" she groaned to herself. She got up from the bed and searched for a clock, and quickly saw one that was just above the unused television in the middle of the room.

The clock read 8:38 AM. She shrugged, and thought that the time wasn't that late. She was surprised that she even was able to fall asleep last night, because usually, she always had trouble doing so.

"I should... go and take a shower."

Jennie made her way to the bathroom, which was just right next to the door. Arriving at the bathroom, she looked at her reflection in the mirror.

A mess. That was how her current state was. Her lipstick was smudged, her mascara left some dark spots around her eyes, her blush probably stained the blankets. Oh, at least her brows still looked like they were on fleek.

She couldn't stand to look at herself any longer. She rolled her eyes at herself and took off her clothes, leaving them by the sink and got in the shower... and well, showered.

After some time of showering and fixing herself up, she got dressed again in the clothes she previously had on. She took her sunglasses that were resting on the table and placed them on.

She then picked her purse up and headed out. Shutting the door behind her as she stepped outside, she took one last look at the door number before going back into an elevator and to the floor where he main reception is.

Once she had gotten there, she stepped out of the elevator and went to the reception desk. Her face lit up slightly when she saw that the same female receptionist was still there from last night.

"Hello, I'm here to check out." she smiled.

"Oh, good to see you again. Did you enjoy your stay?" Jisoo laughed but in a low tone, smiling back at the sun-glassed female.

Jennie responded with a nod, and Jisoo mimics her gesture.

"Room number and name, please." Jisoo asked.

"502, Jennie Kim."

Jisoo typed away on her keyboard, her eyes glancing up to look at the screen.

Jennie couldn't help but just stare at the very attractive receptionist. The way her hair was done, how the makeup on her face looked natural on her and didn't completely alter the way she looked, and Jennie admired that. She couldn't focus on anything else, but the girl in front of her.

"Miss?" Jisoo spoke out.

The sudden voice caused Jennie to regain her focus again and snap back to reality. "O-Oh, yes."

"Are you sure you're checking out? Or are you... checking me out?"
