Chapter 72: Home Again

"Here, Y/n. I went and got your warmest looking clothing and put them in the dryer for you," Pearl said as she held out to Y/n a neatly folded pair of sweatpants and one sweater.

"Th-thank you," Y/n stammered, sitting next to the fireplace in the temple with Amethyst, Steven, and Garnet. They reached for the clothes, their hands, a light blue, still shaking from the cold.

"Look at you," Pearl frowned as she retracted the clothes

"I'm f-f-fine," Y/n told as they reached for the clothes, once they wrapped their fingers around the clothing and pulled, it fell onto the ground as Y/n was unable to keep their grip

"Tsk," Pearl bent over and picked up the clothing, "Let me help you,"

"Help me?" Y/n frowned as Pearl gently took Y/n's hand and led them over to the bathroom, "W-wait. Pearl, y-you don't have to-"

"Y/n, put your human insecurities aside and let me assist you," Pearl said as she closed the door behind her, "Sit," Pearl nodded over to the toilet. Y/n sighed as they sat on the closed toilet and gripped onto their shirt, struggling to maintain a grip on it as they tugged, "Here," Pearl went over to Y/n and gripped the hem of their shirt, "Lift your arms," Pearl told. Y/n nodded as they raised their arms above their head, allowing Pearl to take it off their body. Pearl hummed a tune as she took the sweater and pulled it over Y/n's head, then unbuttoning their pants and pulling them off, Y/n blushing a bright red as Pearl grabbed the sweatpants and struggled to slip them onto Y/n's body, but managed to get them all the way up after a bit of tugging,

"Thank you," Y/n murmured

"Of course," Pearl smiled as she lightly brushed Y/n's hair, "Let's get you back to the fire,"

"That'd be nice," Y/n said as Pearl helped them stand up and exit the bathroom. As they returned to the fireplace, Y/n's phone began to vibrate and play the theme from Halloween loudly

"What's that?" Steven frowned

"My ma's calling," Y/n told as they fumbled to grab their phone, sitting on the floor. Y/n failed to grab their phone several times as Garnet came up behind and picked up the phone and answered it

"This is Y/n's communication device," Garnet spoke, "This is Garnet speaking,"

"Oh, uh hello, Garnet," M/n greeted, "Is Y/n there?"

"Yes," Garnet said simply

"Umm... May I speak with them?" M/n asked

Garnet dropped the phone from her ear and put it to Y/n's ear, "Hey ma," Y/n laughed

"Hi, honey! How are you doing?" M/n asked

"I'm doing fine, you?" Y/n said as they stepped a bit away from the phone and shakily raised their finger to hit the speaker button

"I'm doing well. I'm calling just to ask you a bit of a favor," M/n said, "Your father and I are going on vacation soon and it seems like everyone else had the same idea, so we have no one to watch the house while we're gone,"

"Where're you going?" Y/n asked as they sat down next to the fireplace, holding their hands up to the fire as Garnet walked with them, carrying the phone

"We're going on a cruise," M/n said in a disdainful voice

"Don't you hate cruises?" Y/n frowned
