I grabbed the wrapped present I got for my best friend Carey and put it in my car before getting in and backing away from my house. Carey's birthday is today and since he's injured we can celebrate. I smiled to myself as Carey's brown eyes flashed in my mind. his beautiful laugh echoed throughout my head and I blinked a few times. I love him so much but he has a girlfriend. He deserves someone better though, not someone who doesn't give him the time of day if she doesn't get a gift from him.

Carey's Pov

I wish I couldn't feel, I wish I couldn't love I wish that I could stop cause it hurts so much

I began to shake as I popped another pill into my mouth. I can't stop she's making it worse! she's killing me on the inside and out. I'm trapped in a Love War I don't love her but I'm trying and now I wish I couldn't a feel a single thing. The painkillers I take for my injuries make me go numb, they make me feel numb. they help me forget about my girlfriend that's sucking all of my energy out of me and making me remember the girl I've loved since the 12th grade, my best friend (y/n). I wish I could hold her in my arms and kiss her softly I wish I could wake up to her singing and tell her I love her every morning and every night.

"Carey! I need some money Babe the girls and I are going shopping" Jade said as she walked into the guest room, which I sleep in, I tell her it's because of my injury but really it's because I don't want to be near her. I didn't reply I just handed her a couple hundred dollars

"Ill be back around 11 or 12 k?"

I nodded before closing my eyes. the pills are kicking in... I'm getting drowsy.

"Wake up Careeebeeeaarrr" I heard (y/n) sing song causing me to flutter my eyes open

"Hey Cutie" I mumbled

"HAPPYYYY BIRTHDAYYYY PRICCEEEYY" she shouted

I laughed "someone's got a lot of energy eh?"

(Y/n) nodded before laying down beside me "where's Jade?" she asked

Cause I'm the only one that's trying to keep us together

"She's out" I muttered

(Y/n) looked up at me with sympathy filling her eyes "well then you and I will have fun without her"

I smiled before standing up and taking (y/n)'s hand in mine "where to?" i asked

"I made us reservations at a bowling alley near the arena" she replied

Once we we're done playing bowling, something (y/n) and I do every month she dragged me towards her car and I got it "where to now?" I asked

"Skating with the team at Bell Centre" she exclaimed before driving away from the bowling alley

"Your amazing" I admitted as I turned up the radio

"I know I am" she replied cockily causing me to laugh

P.K walked up to me and gave me a knowing look "Let me guess the puckSlut is out with her friends?" he asked handing me a Gatorade

I took a sip before nodding "I swear if I could ring her neck I would" I muttered as anger boiled up inside of me.
