October, 2017, Present Time

I don't know what happened. A minute ago, I was comforting Aro after his mini meltdown in the throne room. I was hungry, ravenous, actually. All I wanted was for him to calm the fuck down so he could make breakfast.

I fancied a plate of scrambled eggs but no, never mind Alex, you have to play counsellor to Aro now. 'Stop being so selfish, you useless bastard.' Richard snarls, in my ear.

I sigh at him. Okay, fine, it was quite peaceful really, his head laid on my shoulder, his small sighs as I comforted him. He was really starting to relax, our conversation about his sister was fading away. Even his anger at his father was diminishing. He looked up at me, calmly into my eyes, and smiled, manic.

The next thing I know, we're in his bedroom.

One minute later and here we are. He grabs my hand and throws me towards his large bed. The bed I've slept in for the last few months. I fall face down into my pillow, as he crawls onto the bed and climbs onto me from behind. He presses me into the bed, bearing his weight on me.

His lips find the nape of my neck and begins to peck insistently along it, whispering softly in another language, possibly Italian. He rolls me onto my back, grabbing my hands and lifting my arms above my head, pinning them to the bed. He straddles my hips, keeping his tight grip on my hands, beaming a piercing stare into my eyes.

He reaches down, and presses his lips gently against mine, his hips rest against my crotch, his erection digging into it uncomfortably. At that, I snap back into focus and my eyes seem to open for the first time in the last few minutes.

I blink frantically and glance at the position we're in: him sitting on top of me, his arousal evident on his face, his eyes are shining with mania. "Aro..." I croak, realising what I was about to do with him.

"We were....I was going to....no...we can't.." I lift myself up, pushing my hands against his chest, to ward him off. He falls backwards, onto the edge of the bed, and sighs.
He looks away from me, almost embarrassed, and climbs off, neatening the sheets, smoothing them over and leaving the bedroom, heading into the room where his desk is.

He doesn't bother speaking and instead, turns back to the door that separates the bedroom from the main room. He looks up at me, through the doorway, and without a word, closes the door.

I roll over onto my front, comforted by the familiar scent of the blankets, which I wrap myself up in for warmth. I sigh as I hear Aro leave his room, probably off to the kitchen to make breakfast. About time, too.

'Oh stop saying random shit. You enjoyed that. You liked it. You were about to give yourself to Aro.' Richard laughs, and I want to slap him for his annoying but truthful comments. "Okay, so I liked it. Aro pinned me to the bed and kissed me. Very fifty shades." I snap, climbing off the bed and heading to the bathroom.

"Now fuck off. I need to wash my face and hands. I'm sweaty after that." I slam open the door and start towards the taps, but Richard isn't finished yet. He chuckles, amused. 'Alex, you can't leave me behind. I'm inside your head.'

I shake my head irritably, pissed at his words and turn the tap on. Cold water that takes forever to warm rushes out and I gingerly let it run over my hands that turn to ice.

"Shitting hell, that's cold!" I shut the tap off with a jolt and grab my towel, drying them on the warmer material. "The plumbing in this place is shit." I complain and I hear Sandee chirp in my ear.
'Shiiiiiiiit.' She giggles, and I almost find it funny. I didn't know she swore too.

What a funny life I have. Sarcasm there.

I drift back into the bedroom to leave the main room, on my way along the corridor to the kitchen. I smell frying bacon before I've barely approached the door. The smell wafts underneath and I inhale deeply.

I waltz into the kitchen, hoping Aro won't say anything about our brief sexual encounter just now, but he's nowhere to be seen. Instead, one of the shaky human servants is nervously standing with his back to me, hunched over the frying pan.

"Hi, do you know where Aro is?" I switch on the kettle, and retrieve a cup from the cupboard. I go about making tea, waiting for a response from the man, who is plating up the bacon and eggs.

"That looks great." I try again, but he keeps his lips sealed. I sigh and take the plate from him, sitting at the table, while the man begins to make my tea. "I can do that." I go to stand up but he holds up his hand as a signal to silence me.

I sigh and sit back down, digging into my breakfast. I wolf it down hungrily, completely ravenous, until within a minute, it's gone and the plate is clear.

The man turns back to me, placing the cup of tea on the table. I offer a smile but he doesn't respond. He's young, about my age, with skin so pale he looks ill, and short blonde hair. He nervously backs away from the table, but I stop him. "Hey?"

He turns back to me, his blank stare focused on my face. "Do you have family here? How long have you worked here?" I question, sipping my tea. He stands there, still, giving no response. He seems to be purposely pressing his lips together to keep himself from talking.

"I...give you permission...to speak." I offer, on a whim, sounding like some highly idiot who has servants. 'You do have servants, idiot. He's your godamn chef now.' Richard snickers.

Okay, so I have servants now, but it doesn't make me some stuck up high lord.

I turn back to the man, and offer again, firmer. "I give you permission to speak."
The man gives a nervous smile, and steps forward. "I've lived here since a teenager. I was homeless, I saved Master Aro from an attack from another coven." He explains quietly, and I sit forward, interested.

"How did you do that? You're human, you can't fight against vampires." I argue but he smiles, almost confidently. "I have the ability to see into the future. I saw the attack on Master Aro and the guard. I warned him and the attack never came. They executed the men who would have killed Aro before the attack could be staged." He counters.

"That's cool." I sigh, realising the important fact here. "Aro likes people who have abilities." I conclude and he smiles, nodding. "That's right. He gave me a place here straight afterwards. I was sixteen then. I've been here since." He shrugs as if it's completely normal to be housed by vampires.

"Do you want to become one of them?" I question. "You've been here a while. Surely they're thinking of changing you." I point out and he takes a seat at the table. "Maybe. I suppose I want to. Growing old doesn't appeal to me." He almost jokes. His nervous demeanour is still there, but diminishing.

"I'm Alex, by the way." I introduce and he nods. "I know. I'm Enoch." He doesn't shake hands with me. They stay firmly clasped together, so I keep my hands wrapped around my cup.

I go to ask him if he has any other relatives living here but the kitchen door opens and Blondie, or Caius, walks in. Enoch stiffens and rises from the table, turning his back to me and begins washing the pans and cutlery from breakfast.

I realise that's the end of our conversation and I get up from the table to retreat back to my room, but Caius steps in front of me. "Alex." He announces in a eerie, happy tone. "Would you care for a walk?" He gestures to the door, and I sigh.

"I take it that means we're off on a hike and I have no choice." I go to grab my jacket from the bedroom and I hear him call after me.
"Don't forget your compass!" He jokes, annoyingly. Dickhead.
