Song: Bad Dream- Ruelle

I awoke, my whole body stiff and sore. I tried to move, but I was tied to a wall. The ties were slightly too tight around my wrists and ankles, and I moaned in pain.

"She is awake." A deep voice said as red eyes appeared in front of me.

"What are we doing with her, master?" A girl crept out of the corner, glancing at the guy. He glanced from me to her before handing her a small box.

"She's a mind deceiver-- the rarest kind. She deserves to be tortured before she destroys us all." The girl shot him a wicked smile before pulling a stick out of the pack, sliding it across the box. A spark flew off the box and onto the match, and it lit up her face.

"It won't hurt that much." She snickered. "Who am I kidding? This will burn like hell."

She held the match against my stomach, and I watched as the fire danced on my skin. I screamed out in pain, hot tears trickling down my face. More people appeared in the room, and they all snickered at me. A tall guy joined the girl in burning my skin, and when I looked into his eyes, I realized they were the same eyes that had the light brown around the iris-- the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen.

Theo.

"How pathetic. Mind deceivers could never be useful to us." Theo roared, taking the matches from the girl's hand to burn the other side of my stomach. I let out a yelp as more tears streamed down my face.

"Mind deceivers deserve to die!" They chanted, and more tears streamed down my face. I glanced at Theo, who was evilly laughing along with the others. Words couldn't describe how I felt. I yelled, screamed, even kicked, but nothing worked. I was useless. My body was useless. I was about to give in to them when I bolted awake, my cheeks wet with tears.

"You're awake." Theo said, and I saw him. He was standing in front of me with his arms over his chest. I screamed before moving away from him and zipping towards the door.

"Get away from me!" I screamed again, and he shot me a confused look before following me to the door.

"What did I do?"

Theo placed his hand on my arm, and I yanked it away. The spot where he burned me in the dream started burning, and I cowered toward the wall as much as I could to keep away from him.

"Don't touch me. Don't come near me!" I yelled, and he gave me a strange look before unlocking the door. I opened it and zoomed out, far away from him, and far away from the dream that kept replaying in my mind.

"She won't come train, Hazel. I don't know what's wrong with her." Theo groaned outside out of my room, and Hazel sighed.

"I'll talk to her. Stay here." Hazel walked into my room and shot me a smile. I stayed under the blankets, scared he would come in as well.

"What's wrong, Mel?" Hazel questioned, and I shook my head, too fear stricken to give an answer.

"I-I don't want to be near him." She shot me a confused look before sitting beside me, and I took a deep breath. "I was in a dream or something. They were lighting my skin on fire. He was doing it too. He was encouraging it. I-I thought it was real."

I let out a choked sob, and Hazel's eyebrows crinkled together as she hugged me. "It will be okay, Mel. He won't hurt you."

"I... I was in the dream?" We looked up to see Theo standing at the edge of my bed, rubbing the back of his neck. Hazel glared at him before standing up and hitting his shoulder-- so hard, he actually cringed.

"I told you not to do that with her being a newborn!"

Theo stared at me in shock, but it instantly turned to regret. "I didn't think it would that bad..."

"Yeah, I could tell." Hazel bit back before walking out of the room, leaving me alone with Theo.

"Tell me about the dream." He whispered, and I took a deep breath before fully explaining the dream. When I finished, he stared at me, his eyes filled with regret, and he immediately came to my side. "I'm sorry, princess. I would never hurt you like that. You are in my pack, and I will always protect you."

Theo held me in a tight hug, and for the first time since the dream, I finally relaxed. When we pulled away, he stood up and ran a hand through his disheveled hair.

Tell me about Willow. Trust me, Theo.

He shot me a sad smile before shaking his head. I can't, princess. Maybe eventually, but not right now.

Theo gave me a small smile before he walked out of my room. Hazel walked in and plummeted to my bed, sighing as she crossed her legs.

"He's a good guy, Mel, but he's... broken." I shot her a questioning look, and she gave me a sad smile before continuing. "One reason would be our parents-- I don't think any of us will ever get over that-- and the other reason is Willow."

My ears picked up at the sound of Willow. If Theo couldn't tell me, maybe Hazel could fill me in. "Tell me about Willow."

"Willow was Theo's first love. He was head over heels for her, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for her. Willow was a part of our pack, so she moved in with us when she started dating Theo. They were together for four years. She was the light in his world, and if she wasn't there, his world was dark and pointless. One day, he came home from a meeting with our ally pack. He told me they had a fight, but I've always felt like there was more to it all. After their 'fight', Willow packed her stuff and walked out on him. He's never been the same since."

As I listened to Hazel's words, my heart ached for Theo. As cruel as he could be, no one deserved to have the love of their life walk out on them when they need them the most. If there was anything I knew, it was heartbreak and grief changed people-- whether it be for the better or for worse.

"Wow. That's terrible." I muttered, and Hazel shrugged her shoulders, sadly smiling.

"It is, but what he needs is a person to show him that the world isn't just about the hurt and betrayal. Theo needs the light back in his life, and I don't think it's going to be a family member to help him find it again." Hazel's smile grew bigger as she stood and walked out of the room. Thoughts bounced around in my mind, but they all revolved around the same subject.

What if I was the one to show him there was still good left in this world?

What if I was supposed to be the light in his life?
