The Tell

"Jailee, wake up" I hear Derek

Am I dreaming? I groan and open my eyes to see Derek hovering over me, I get up and say

"Where am I?"

"In my car!"

"Why?"

"No time to explain just, hurry up and get out" he says

When I get out the car, I fix my hair because I can tell it looks awful so I tie it up in a messy bun. I am wearing sleeping shorts which I rolled up and a sweatshirt. I turn around and see and really angry Scott looking at me.

"What? I was sleeping!" I tell him

"In the back of Derek's car!" Scott says

I nod and walk over to him. I pat his back and Derek leads us up to the roof. We look down at the police cars, ambulance and shattered glass everywhere.

"Starting to get it?" Derek asks

"I get that his killing people. I don't get why!" Scott says

"Yeah I'm with Scott on this one!" I say

"I mean this isn't slandered practice. We don't, go out in the middle of the night and murder everyone do we?"

Scott says

"No, we're predators, we don't have to be killers" Derek says I look at him and smile

"Why is he a killer?" I ask

"That's what we are going to find out." Derek says while walking away and I look at Scott and shrug and we follow Derek back to his car

We get out the car and are at Derek's house. We walk inside and I'm about to pass out I'm so tired.

"You know, I have a life too!" Scott says

"No you don't" Derek says to Scott

"Yes I do!" Scott is now yelling at Derek "I don't care what you say about him. Making me his pet-"

"Part of his pack!"

"Whatever. I have homework to do, I have to go to a parent teacher conference tomorrow cause I'm failing chemistry" Scott says

I stand next to Scott and place my hand on his shoulder for comfort

"You wanna do homework, or do you not wanna die?" Derek says and I look at him and say

"Wow. Comforting... Really!"

"You have less than a week until the full moon. If you don't kill with him, he kills you" Derek says

"Okay seriously who made up these rules?"

"It's a rite of passage into the pack"

"You know what else is a rite of passage? Graduating from high school! And you don't have kill anyone to do it.. Why can't you just find him yourself? Why can't you just sniff him out when his human?" Scott says

"Scott his scent is probably different!" I say

"It has to be you" Derek says "you have a connection with him.. A link. That you can't understand. If I can teach you, to control your abilities, you can find him"

"So if I help, you can stop?" Scott says

"Not alone. We're stronger in numbers. The pack makes the individual more powerful"

"How am I supposed to help is I have no idea what I'm doing?" Scott says

"Because I'm going to teach you. Remember the first night when you got shot in the arm? Right after you were hit"
