Strike team Charlie has returned to the CSI headquarters in Orlando, Florida. 3 jets has landed on the pavement of the headquarters and Charlie's bases exited their designated jets and marched inside the headquarters.
The CSI team leader Elena Villendez entered Charlie's common room to check on her members
"Congratulations to your success on retrieving back our weapons, and please forgive me for burdening you with so many missions this week" Elena announced
"It's fine Elena, we enjoyed the missions" Leila replied "despite its exhausting and all, we still enjoy it"
"Yeah, we love the adrenaline rush, despite today we kinda..." Hayden trailed off, Elena still listening intently "...we kinda... uh... got distracted a bit and got compromised"
"Distracted?" Elena said puzzled "what distracted you? I heard in your coms that a little squabble happened"
"it's not really a squabble" Hannah corrected "we got compromised when we're about to attack, and a little agitation happened because of the distraction but... we managed"
Elena scanned the faces of her unit, her eyes narrowed a bit as she stared at them one by one
"We swear Elena, Charlie's doing well, no squabbles or fight, it happens most of the time but Charlie's focus is—" Leila was explaining but cut off
"It' not about your focus or performance I'm talking about, because I know you guys are doing well... I'm talking about you guys as a team of your own" Elena pointed out
"We're doing fine, we can handle everything Elena, I promise" Leila said "as the leader of this unit, I promise we're doing well"
Elena still had her eyes narrowed before she exited Charlie's common room. Everyone heaved a sigh after she left
"Okay, it's story time, what happened there Lia?" Hayden said breaking the silence, Lia froze after her name was mention and the question was dropped, her grip on her invisible shield at Loki is still on "you were the one on that spot where that light or whatever it is has landed and distracted us AND got us compromised, what is it about?"
"It's not like I caused that light or something it magically appeared right in front of me! And I have no idea what that is!" Lia explained in a tone that matches Hayden's
"Hayden..." Leila warned "then what did you see, Lia?" she asked gently
Lia's tongue felt like it was tied in a knot, she answered as casually as possible "a mark, a circular mark that I don't know what is"
"Yeah, I saw that mark too, and I have no idea what that is too..." Louie vouched before his gaze darted at his sister
Hannah caught his brother's gaze and her turn to open her mouth to speak "what is that light like, Lia?" she asked
"it's like a very strong band of energy, I have no words to describe it but I felt a strong gravitational pull on that light, strong enough to suck you up, it is comparable to the gravity of the earth's surface" Lia explained
"Like the light we see on TV when aliens abduct people?" Ezekiel innocently asked
The common room fell into silence as they all stared at Ezekiel for a while
"Yeah... kinda like that but, it's like a band of light mixed with the colors of the rainbow" Lia explained further
"Rainbow?" Hannah asked
"Yeah, it's quite colorful, and then it just disappeared leaving nothing but a..." Lia trailed off, her eyes strayed "...circular... mark" she continued
The common room is silent; Leila's eyes low-key widened and exchanged glances with Hayden and Kobe whose eyes are slightly widened as well, while Hannah exchanged gazes with Louie
"That's it? Nothing more than a... circular... mark?" Leila asked
Lia narrowed her eyes and her grip on her forcefield tightened "yeah... nothing more than that" she sternly replied
"Really?" Hannah asked faking a nonchalant tone "why doesn't it sound convincing?" she added
"How does 'convincing' sound?" Lia fired back gripping her forcefield tighter
"Straight and without a stutter... you seem to forget how good you are" Hannah said sternly
"Hannah..." Louie chipped in
A smirk appeared on Lia's face "are you saying that I'm lying?" she asked rhetorically
"I didn't say anything, why? Were you?" Hannah asked sarcastically
"Sometimes, things don't need to be said directly, have you forgotten what my powers are..." Lia replied through gritted teeth "...commander?" she spat
"Enough!" Leila interjected "Lia said nothing else came out of that light..." she said turning her head to Hannah, Hannah looked at her "it means: Nothing. Came. Out. Of that. Light" she said the words clearly and sternly, "you trust your agent, right soldier?" she questioned
Hannah stared at Leila for a while, before breaking a calm and friendly smile "yes... yes I do, captain" Hannah said in her normal friendly tone
"We are all tired and exhausted for working non-stop this whole week, and I understand that all of you are pissed when we got compromised earlier; but that was not any of your fault, you did majestically Charlie, as you always do" Leila said "don't let your tiredness and exhaustion climb up to your head and make you think ridiculous things such as suspicion, we don't suspect one another..." she turned her sight to Hannah and sternly said "and we don't accuse anyone of lying just like that..." her eyes left Hannah and focused on the entire unit "you guys deserve a break; 2 weeks off for your good job this week, you guys are amazing, you did well!" she finished and the entire unit cheered except for Leila, Hannah and Lia
"Pack your things now team, and enjoy your weeks off" Leila added before everyone dispersed out of the unit common room and marched to their rooms in the headquarters. Leila, Hayden and Kobe remained in the common room, they turned towards each other and exchange glances.
CSI headquarters garage –
Lia is carrying her duffle bag and marching her way to her car, when Hannah stood on her way stopping her
"Hey..." Hannah said
"Hey..." Lia replied
"I just wanted to say, sorry for my words earlier, I didn't mean to sound like that, it's just..." she trailed off before chuckling slightly "it's just kinda odd you acted that way, but I mean no harm"
Lia smiled, "it's okay, I know you never meant any harm Hannah, and I'm sorry if I reacted wrongfully, I'm just tired I guess"
"Yeah... I'm might be tired too, so... no hard feelings?" Hannah assured
"Yeah, of course no hard feelings" Lia smiled and agreed, "see you in like 2 weeks"
"Sure" Hannah happily replied before the two enveloped in a hug that lasted for a couple seconds before the two broke off "careful on your way home"
"You too" Lia said before putting her duffle bag in her passenger seat and entering her car, she then started her engine and drove off the garage leaving Hannah still standing on her spot.
Louie came behind Hannah and stood beside her, she looked up to her brother and they exchanged glances
Meanwhile, Lia is driving with a friendly smile on her face. But as soon she exited the CSI compound her smile faded and her eyes looked sternly on her way.
"No hard feelings..." Lia said under her breath, pressing a button in her car and all of her windows changed into tinted glass windows, she made sure every window turned tinted before disengaging her forcefield finally revealing a still body on her back seat.
She stared at Loki's sleeping form from the rear view mirror, then she turned her gaze straight to the road driving back home in silence.
