Innocent Eyes (Loki x OC)

Chapter 9

The day went by with the two of them doing their things; Loki just stayed in his room and read as many books as he wants while Lia cleaned the house. It's 7 pm now and Loki stopped reading to rest his eyes for a bit and went to the window and opened it, he got out from there and he settled on the roof in front of his room admiring the quietness of the place.

Lia pass by his room to check on him and found that he is out the window sitting on the roof, she smiled and called him, "hey..." she said, Loki turned to look at her and smiled, "found yourself comfortable here?" she smiled at him

"Yeah... pleasant and quiet, I like it" he said, she just smiled, "care to join me? I appreciate peace but I also appreciate company" he said showing his pearly whites, she smiled wider and climbed out of the window to join him, they sat there in silence for a second, "why is it that you don't have any neighbors?" he asked curiously

Lia shrugged, "nah... I'm too lazy erasing their memories every now and then, I often use my powers to make task easier and I can't afford an audience watching from their windows" she said and chuckled, he chuckled too, "scenery's fine too, and I enjoy solitude" she added

"Yeah, view is quite enjoyable especially alone" he agreed "I suddenly miss home..." he said then paused, he bowed his head in sorrow, Lia looked at him, "what's wrong?" she asked, Loki just smiled glumly "I just remembered, I don't have a home" he said, Lia's feature soften as she stared at him, "I will never belong wherever I go; I'm not a true Asgardian, and I am not raised in my home planet, I even killed their king which is my father... technically, I have no place in this universe" he said

Lia felt dumb, she doesn't know what to say to comfort him, so before he could say anymore, Lia grabbed his hand into hers, he turned to her direction and she looked directly at his eyes; her eyes is full of understanding, "if you don't mind, can I... ease your mind?" she asked gently. He looked at her puzzled, "what do you mean?" he asked, "I can sort out your thoughts and ease your mind and feelings from any trouble or anxiety" she explained.

His gaze softens and he slowly nodded, she smiled and lifted her hands from his hand and put it on both side of his head on his ear level, her eyes never left his. She work on her telepathic powers to sort out his thoughts, his heart raced as they stared at each other's eyes, a smile form on his lips, she smiled too and slowly lowered her hands, "thank you..." he said softly.

She smiled wider, "I hope I made you feel better..." she said, "you made me feel more than better, thank you for being there and understanding me... and for not judging me" he said gratefully, "I think you had enough judgment from almost everyone, it's time for you to be understood" she smiled, he smiled wider his heart raced even faster "you don't know how grateful I am that you found me" he said and she chuckled, "let's go have dinner" she said before standing up and went back inside, he just watched her went back inside and his hand slowly came up to touch his chest, his heart still beating fast, "what is this?" he said under his breath.

Later that night, 10 pm –

Loki is lying on his bed, trying to fall asleep; his right hand resting on his chest and his left hand behind his head, he still feel his heart fluttering under his hand and is unsure of why his heart is acting like this, "did she do something to me when she eased my thoughts earlier?" he asked himself, he sighed "no, she's not that sort, she's too kind to do something like that" he convinced himself, he then smiled "she's so kind... generous... understanding... she's got an angelic voice..." he said to himself, a blush crept to his cheeks and his smiled widens "and she's so beautiful too..." he said to himself. His smiled suddenly faded and his turned over facing the side table beside his bed, he sighed "too bad I don't deserve it..." he said to himself before closing his eyes and sleep.

The next day –

Lia's eyelids fluttered, she blinked a few times to adjust to the light of the day before finally opening them, she rubbed her eyes and yawned before getting up from the bed, as soon as the sleepiness left her she heard a sound coming from downstairs; a soft instrumental tune, she smiled and exited her room still in her pajamas.

She descended to the stairs and found a raven-haired man sitting in front of the piano playing a familiar tune, she knows that song wherever she goes and he's actually playing it. He sang softly as his long slender fingers pressed the keys...

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine

You make me happy, when skies are gray...

You never know dear, how much I love you

Please don't take my sunshine away...

She tried her best but her heart can't help but melt at his beautiful singing, she felt a flutter in her stomach which made her flinch and try to shrug it off, she instead smiled and announced her presence "It's beautiful..." she complemented, Loki flinched and turned around, he gave her a warm smile and she returned it, "you're a fast learner..." she added

"Well, I only know the chorus... I tried memorizing the keys you pressed yesterday and that is all I could remember" he explained shyly

She smiled, "well, you did an amazing job..." she said, Loki's cheeks felt hot, she just complimented her, she chuckled at his shy expression, "let's have breakfast..." she invited

Later –

After breakfast, Loki is back in his room lying on his bed, his body is turned over so his back is facing the door, a bright smile is shining on his face remembering the earlier encounter with Lia, her compliments and her smile. His smile faded again and he got up to sit on the bed, "why can't I take her out of my head?" he asked himself, "what's the matter with me?" he sighed and his hand reached his chest again, feeling his heartbeat. Then Lia surprisingly came to the door announcing her presence and startling him, "hey, Loki! I—oh, sorry... are you okay?" she asked in concern, he just smiled "yes, I'm fine... maybe a little knock next time" he said jokingly, she chuckled "sorry, but are you really okay? A wound hurt or you're having a heart attack or something?" she asked

He raised a brow wondering why she asked like that, then he remembered he had his hand on his chest, "no I'm fine, it's nothing..." he said removing his hand from his chest, "are you sure?" she ask, "yes I'm fine, now what is it?" he asked this time.

She smiled, "yeah... well I'm taking you out today!" she said cheerfully, his heart warmed seeing her cheerful smile, "where are we going?" he asked shyly, she smiled finding his shy expressions cute, "I'll take you to the grocery store and help me replenish groceries" she said, he raised a brow questioningly "what do you mean?" he asked innocently, she rolled her eyes "we'll buy necessities like food, cleaning products, uhm... your stuffs; I remembered I only gave you disposable toothbrush they gave in the airport so I'm planning to buy you a proper one, and... other stuffs" she explained, he blinks his eyes before nodding, she smiled again finding everything about him cute, "you're so cute you know..." she chuckled, he blushed "go take a bath and get dressed" she said before exiting his room. 

He smiled sweetly after she left, then he frowned "I'm not cute!!" he shouted causing him to hear a laugh from across the room.

30 minutes later –

Lia put on her denim jacket matching her floral knee-length dress and combed her hair for the last time before exiting her room, just in time when Loki exited his room wearing an all black suit (similar to the one he wore in Ragnarok) Lia stared at her for a while, "uhm... aren't you too..." she started, Loki interjected with a smile "what? Too handsome?" he playfully said, Lia chuckled and blushed, well it's true he's too handsome for a shopping day, "well that is one..." she agreed, he blushed, "and the other... you're way too formal, we're only going for a grocery not a... formal party" she said nicely, "you could go with a shirt and jeans and jacket" she suggested

Loki smiled, "hmm... I'll see what I can do" he said and he returned to his room, leaving Lia a blushing mess on the corridor and her smile can't seem to fade, she got down to the living room and sat on the couch waiting for him to finish changing. Her smile slightly faded after she heard a knock on the door, she got up from the couch to answer it.

Her smile dropped completely and her heart felt like it skipped a beat after seeing who's behind the door.

"Hey, Lia..." said the husky male voice

"R-Roland...?" Lia stuttered
