I wait anxiously as my cell rings. C'mon picks up. Pick up. Please pick up.

"What nail polish colour looks better on me, hot pink or turquoise?" Shelby asks as I glance at the screen.

"Hey Elise I was doing homework," Calum tells me. "I thought facetime was reserved for Saturday nights?"

I shake my head violently at my friends as tears begin to roll down my cheeks. "I'm in trouble," I tell them as sitting against the bathtub.

"Oh my God, Elise don't cry" Shelby begs as pushing her blond hair behind her ears.

"What's going on Elise?" Calum furrowed his brow in great concern.

"I'm hiding in the bathroom at a house party" I admit as mascara streams down my face.

"Sweetie why?" Shelby raises a brow.

"Well because I was snooping in someone's room and found something I shouldn't have" I shake my head before lowering my voice to a whisper "drugs"

"Elise it's a public school, every second person is on something" Calum informs.

I doubt that.

"Shut up Calum you're not helping" Shelby rolls her eyes "now sweetie it's okay"

"No, it's not" I sniff "someone walked in...he's going to find out and who knows what will happen"

"What did you do when someone walked in?" Calum asks.

I hold my breath in regret "I...kinda...kissed him" I admit "then ran away"

"What!" they both cry at the same time as there's a knock on the door.

"It's occupied!" I scream at the door as wiping away my tears.

"Okay but there's a line up" a guy informs from the other side of the door

Ugh. Looks like I have to get out.

"I'll call you guys back later" I sniff as standing up.

"Good luck," Shelby says as I end the facetime call.

I take a deep breath. I'm going to get Ned so we can leave.

I squeeze the doorknob before twisting. The door swings open where I find Mark Antony standing at the front of the line, with Kelsey behind him.

My eyes widen in surprise. Oh god, this night is a disaster.

"Carter" Chris furrows his brows.

My heart rate increases as I feel tears running down my cheeks. I shake my head violently. "Excuse me" I push past him.

"Hey wait" I hear him call as I climb down the staircase quickly.

He grabs my arm violently. I turn around to face him as we reach the bottom of the staircase.

"What!" I scream as I yank my arm away from him.

I feel betrayed, despite not having a reason to be. He can be with whoever he wants. He's not my property. Why is he talking to me right?

"You're upset" Chris observes.

"Great observational skills" I give him a thumbs up with my left hand, as moving my right across my cheek.

"Who upset you?" He softens his voice in concern.

Chris caring is making it really hard to be upset. He doesn't even know me. Why does he care that I'm upset?

"Nobody, just leave me alone" I beg as walking to the front of the house.

"Carter!" He calls as taking my arm again.

Suddenly his lips press against mine, as his hands sit on my waist. I pull away instantly. "What was that?" I cry.

I had dreamt about this day since I was a goofy freshman at my private school. I spent all summer dreaming about the day that I would finally meet him, and now the day has finally arrived.

He was talking to that Kelsey person like an hour or two ago, and now he's here kissing me for no reason at all.

"What do you think?" Chris raises a brow as if it were the most obvious answer.

I throw my arms in the air in frustration "You can't just kiss me"

My fear and sadness have now become frustration and annoyance. This party is sparking too many emotions. I knew I should have just stayed home.

He smirks before kissing me again. I pull away instantly as I widen my eyes. He's actually crazy.

"What is wrong with you!" I scream.

He kisses me again. This time he pulls away, then kisses me again. I close my eyes this time and embrace the kiss. Why is the school's quarterback kissing me? He only met me Monday for goodness sake.

I laugh before pulling away "have you been drinking? Is that it?" I ask.

A small smile washes across his face "because why else would I kiss you?" He says sarcastically "maybe I just wanted to kiss you, Carter"

"Why? You've known me for four days?" I raise a brow "you have that Kelsey girl in there who looks more than willing-"

Chris shakes his head calmly "Kelsey is nobody"

Well she was feeling your chest a second ago.

"I'm supposed to believe that?" I question "I saw how she was touching you in there"

"I've never ever kissed Kelsey" he assures with a small smile before leaning closer towards me "I promise" he whispers as kissing me again.

So why is he kissing me?

I pull away "You didn't answer my question" I remind him "Why are you kissing me?"

Chris nods his head "Because I like you...and when I want something or someone I just go after it" he explains. "Besides it got you to stop crying right?"

I just notice that my tears are gone. He's my brothers friend. It's weird, right?

I nod slowly. "You're my brother's friend"

"Well I rather kiss you then Ned" he smirks. "...look I want to go out with you...just give me one date"

I contemplate for a moment. I really really want to go on a date with him.

"Okay" I nod slowly "I'll give you a date"

"Elise" a deep voice groans from behind me.

I turn around to find my drunken brother, looking as white as paper. Oh boy. Dad's going to flip when he sees him. How are we getting home then? He's my ride.

"Oh Ned" I quickly walk to my brother's side. "You're our ride home"

"I can drive you guys" Chris suggests "then I'll catch a bus or something home"

I glance at him in surprise "Oh, Chris you don't have to" I shake my head.

"No I want to" he half smiles as Ned pulls out his keys.

Chris takes Ned's keys slowly.

I nod hesitantly "Okay, come on Ned" I help him walk towards his parked car.
