A Change in Plans

Naruko’s POV

 

The thing is, I wasn’t planning on going back to Konoha.

Now, you’re probably wondering what the hell I’m going to do. Well, I knew I couldn’t achieve anything if I just depended on Konoha, so I chose a different path. Even if taking that path makes it seem like I was betraying my village, family, and friends.

Which I most definitely didn’t want to do.

Like Neji is always drawling on about, it’s destiny. I know that I’m not meant for Konoha, I’m just a danger to them.

Naruto saw my grim expression, and he became worried. “N-Naruko?” He asked softly. I shook my head, taking a step back. Everyone watched in worry.

“Naruko? What’s going on?” Naruto asked, laughing nervously.

I just shook my head again. “I-I can’t, Naruto. Let me say this in advanced. I’m sorry.” I whispered, and Naruto’s eyes widened in shock.

“W-What are you talking about? You’re coming with us, right?!” He was getting hysterical. I couldn’t help but let a tear drop from my eye. I’ve hurt him so much. I don’t deserve to be near him, or any Konoha ninja, for the matter. They’ve been so kind to me, and the only thing I’ve done for them is hurt them.

“No, Naruto. I’m sorry. I just… Can’t.” I answered honestly.

This time, Naruto looked enraged. “AND WHY NOT?! YOU’RE JUST GOING TO BETRAY US AGAIN?!” He roared, making me flinch.

I calmed myself and looked up at Naruto, a blank expression plastered across my face. “I have to. Once again, I am truly sorry.” I said, before disappearing once again.

Naruto’s POV

 

After she left, I couldn’t help but cry. She was gone. And the worst thing is, she left us willingly. Kakashi approached me, and placed a hand on my shoulder. I let him, because I really didn’t care at the moment.

“W-We should find her.” Sakura spoke up, and I realized she was crying too. “Alright. Naruto, Sakura and I will head with Pakkun. Kiba, go with Hinata. Shino and Yamato, you go with my ninja hounds. Got it?” Kakashi asked. We all nodded.

“Alright, split up!” Kakashi said, and we all leapt away to find Naruko. “Pakkun! I need you to track Naruko’s scent!” Kakahsi ordered. The small ninja hound nodded, and lead the way. “She went this way, I can smell it.” Pakkun said.

We all followed the trail for about 30 minutes, until Pakkun suddenly stopped, a confused look on his face.

“What’s wrong?” Kakashi asked.

“Her scent… It disappeared…” Pakkun trailed off. Sakura and I looked at each other,  shocked and worried.

Where did she go?!

-5 minutes earlier-

Naruko’s POV

 

I leapt into a clearing, looking around. I felt as if someone was following me. And I don’t mean the Konoha ninja. This presence was different, but vaguely farmiliar.

I turned to look around, but nobody was there, which made me more suspicious.

Suddenly, a hand clamped over my mouth, and I was sucked into some sort of portal.

I was no longer in the forest, that’s for sure.
