"Ouch," you hissed, shaking your hand. You'd think you would be used to it by now, but every pinch and shock hurt just as much.

You'd come to the conclusion years ago that your soulmate must be a mechanic or do something else with their hands. The amount of times you'd broken or jammed a finger was too many to count. They'd put you through the ringer, but it was worth it. Knowing that there was someone out there designed specifically for you was comforting.

You brushed your fingers over your chest out of habit. Under your work uniform there was a large round scar. Unlike the minor injuries you two suffered and recovered from, this one never went away.

For you it was a raised red line, a near perfect circle. It used to bother you all the time but it had calmed down over the years to a dull throbbing. You couldn't imagine what the real thing was like.

"Y/N?"

You snapped out of your thoughts and smiled apologetically at your manager.

"Sorry Mandy."

Mandy gave you a look, though her lips quirked up into a smile.

"Table of 1 at 32."

You nodded, checking you had a notepad and pen in your apron.

"Thanks M."

You left the counter, putting on a smile as you checked on your tables before heading over to the newcomer.

The restaurant where you worked was small, more of a cafe. It was usually inhabited by quiet folks looking for some peace and coffee. Overall not a bad place to work.

Table 32 consisted of a single young man with blonde hair and a jean jacket. As you walked up to the table he looked up at you with pretty blue eyes.

"Hi! I'm Y/N, I'll be your waitress this morning. Can I get you something to drink?"

"Hi y/n, um- sorry I've never been here before," the man scratched his neck nervously.

You smiled. "No worries. If you're looking for caffeine then personally I'd recommend the vanilla bean cappuccino. If you'd like to avoid caffeine then definitely the peppermint hot chocolate."

"Hmmm, well I need all the caffeine I can get, so I'll take that cappuccino."

"Coming right up! Let me know if you need any suggestions food wise."

He blushed and you gave him a knowing wink before turning to put his order in.

"Who is that cutie at your table?" June, one of your coworkers, asked as soon as you walked back behind the counter.
