Twilight [e. cullen] pt. 2

Your first week in Forks went by uneventfully, classes dull and homework overwhelming. Your mother had officially started her new job and the two of you were finally settling down. Forks was starting to feel like it could actually be home. 

You were becoming great friends with Angela and Jessica, and were learning to tolerate Mike and Eric. They'd learned pretty quickly that you had no interest in either of them and had cooled it on the flirting. You 3 bickered like siblings now, something Ang and Jes found hilarious. 

You'd also, surprisingly, become friends with Edward. It was hard not, considering you were science partners. But he was funny and polite and much better at science than you were, thankfully. Unfortunately you were no closer to finding out why his and his families timers were going backwards. And you wanted answers.

It was a Wednesday now. The morning classes dragged on and by time lunch rolled around you were desperate for a reprieve. You followed Jess into the cafeteria, opting for a bag of chips and an apple. You sat down beside Angela, flipped Mike and Eric off, and then got down to the nitty gritty.

"So what's up with the Cullens?"

Angela groaned, "It was only a matter of time before you asked."

"What isn't up with the Cullens," Mike muttered, shooting a glare at the people in question.

It was impossible for you not to notice them sitting in the corner of the cafeteria, far from everyone else with their countdowns in reverse. 

"Are they all Cullens over there?"

Jess nodded. "They're all adopted by the same couple, Carlisle and Esme. But don't waste your time, trust me, they want nothing to do with anyone else."

You frowned a bit at Jess' tone. "I only ask because Edward is my partner in bio and he just seems...different."

"Different is an understatement. The whole family is wack."

You narrowed your eyes at Eric's head. You could just imagine his timer speeding up.....

"Don't listen to them, they're all just jealous. The Cullen's are fine they just like to keep to themselves."

"That was smart of them, I wish I could keep to myself and keep away from you idiots."

Mike and Eric were outraged while Ang and Yes just laughed.

Yeah, your new friends weren't so bad.

Before you knew it the day was winding down again and you were walking into your last class of the day. 

You sat down, swinging your bag under the table. "Hey Cullen."

A smile tugged on his face. "Hey (L/N)."

"How has your day been so far?"

"Just fine, yours?"

You shrugged, "As well as school can be, I guess. I just can't to graduate and get out of here."

Edward nodded in understanding before opening his mouth then promptly closing it again. He looked like he was debating something, and you kept quiet in hopes he would speak up.

"Can I be honest about something?"

You nodded, "Please do."

"You seem....different."

You raised an eyebrow and he rushed to explain.

"And this isn't me trying to hit on you or anything. We've only known each other for a short time, but you just seem different."
