❝i like that❞
Brad waits outside the bathroom for his Cassie to change and as soon as she's out, he engulfs her in a tight hug. She lets out a tired sigh as she holds onto Brad as tight as he holds onto her.
"Are you feeling better?" She whispers up to him, shifting hair out of his face as she lifts her head up off of his chest.
"Yeah," he smiles, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. The other two boys had disappeared out to the Jeep where Tristan was giving Connor a lecture.
"He's your friend!" Tristan says to Connor who sits there with no remorse. "You know how you thought about him when he strangled Cassandra? You were disgusted in him and you were angry but I guess you're just as bad now."
Connor glances over, pursing his lips as he grew more enraged at the curly haired boy.
"I can't deal with you!" Tristan explodes. "Do you not feel guilty at all? You just embarrassed yourself, Con, and for what? What was the problem with them both linking?"
Connor groans, "Brad didn't even like her a few weeks ago and then he goes ahead and links her!"
"She said it was her idea—"
"We both know she's lying, sticking up for that bastard."
"Connor," Tristan snaps. "Watch your language, he's our bestfriend."
"Best friend?" Connor scoffs. "He knew I liked her and he linked her behind our backs!"
"Why is that a problem?" Tristan questions. "I don't get it."
"When two people link, its more intimate," Connor explains. "They share their blood between their veins just like we all do but it's different because the bond is stronger. He doesn't deserve her blood in his veins because he's a scum—!"
"Connor!" Tristan grabs his attention. "Even if Brad asked her to link, it's none of your business. She wanted to do it, too."
"He shouldn't have even asked her. It should've been me."
"Maybe she didn't want you," Tristan huffs. "Con, no offence but recently you've been an arse, more than Brad's been. I understand why she'd link him and not you if I'm honest."
Meanwhile, Brad had convinced Cassandra to allow him to push the two single beds together so that they could lay next to each other, but they just stayed on Brad's half of the bed anyway.
She sat between his legs, her back against his chest with his arms draped over her shoulders as his hands play with her fingers. Her eyes were shut as she basked in the silence and Brad didn't mind at all.
She looks up at him after a few more moments of silence, smiling slightly. He raises an eyebrow, "what's got you smiling?"
"Nothing," she lies, looking back down and trying to bite down her growing smile. He rubs his nose against her ear, causing a quiet giggle to escape her mouth.
