The Burning

Y/N POV

You stood over the blue flame. In your hand was the jet black sniper rifle. The lives that this weapon had taken. You ran your finger over the newest scratches. The heat from the fire kept you warm on the relatively cool night. A cold breeze pressed your shirt ageists your back. Taking in a deep breath you tossed the weapon into the flames. You watched as the barrel bent down as the fire melted the gun away. The tick marks slowly merged together. The terrible weapon that had taken so many lives now melted away before your eyes. A burden seemed to lift from your shoulders. 

Turning around, you walked back inside. The rush of warm air was welcoming. Suddenly someone's arms wrapped around you. Looking up from your chest was Ela. "Glad to see you back." She said, still holding you in place. "I'm glad to be back." You responded as you returned the hug. Everything you'd done was for the people you cared about, the people here. For now, it was time for you to stop running from who you once were. Ela looked at you curiously. "Something wrong?" You smiled, for the first time in many years, you let out a genuine, full hearted smile. "I've never been better.
