A normal day, just like any other for Captian David Allen. Another day that he was cooped up in his office, filling out paperwork until he received the call, just another hostage situation. Nothing big right?

Wrong. Dead wrong, you were in that situation. A local outing with friends, turned into a crime scene within minutes. Allen never rushed to get his armor on and gun loaded at the same time. It was surprising to the other SWAT team members, it was just another case, not like he hasn't done them before.

"Hurry up! We don't have much time to waste!"

His tone, stern and holding a small twinge of fear. His men loaded into their trucks, speeding off with their captain taking lead.

Upon arrival, you were the first he spotted, shaking and scared, also held at gun point. Allen wanting nothing more than just to hold you as he ushered you to safety. His fist clenched, any tight and he would have ripped through his black gloves. Allen watched as you tried to remain calm, but failed and burst into tears. Silent sobs racked your body, your captor showed no mercy as they jammed the barrel of the gun at your temple.

One by one, Allen was able to get everyone, but you out safely.

The seconds bled into minutes, the minutes into an hour. Allen's worst hour, as your captor let you go, they pulled the trigger. As soon as Allen embraced you in one of the tight hugs he's ever given you, your body went limp. Your face turned pale and there was now red stained on his black SWAT suit. Your breathing started to get heavy as you grasped onto him for dear life, Allen felt his world crumble as his men were quick to take down your captor.

It wasn't supposed to end like this, he started to slowly drop to the floor with you in hands, his once stern scowl. Turned into the face of a broken man within seconds, tears made his eyes all puffy and red. Allen's bose became blocked as he tried to stop the red vital fluid from leaving you.

"A-allen. Just stop, I-I'm not gonna make it." Your voice, hoarse and sounding tired. But despite your order, Allen doesn't give up.

"No! Don't talk like that, baby you'll make it! I swear on my life, you'll make it! Please don't leave. I-I love you too much to let go."

Tears rolled off the SWAT commander's face, his breathing started getting heavy. His hands still scrambled to stop the bleeding as you rested helplessly in his arms. It was too much, why wasn't there an ambulance already there when they arrived?

"Allen, b-baby stop." A coughing fit racked your body. "I'm not going to make it, we both know that."

He knew, oh how badly he knew. But he didn't want to come to terms with it, he wanted to push away your even chance of dying, and embrace your odd chance of survival.

"Don't say that! Look me in the eye, you're going to make it. I swear on my life Y/N. You'll make it, and that's for damn sure."

"David Allen. With all my heart, I'd like to b-believe that. But, t-this is the end. I-I love you." With that said, you took your last breath. Allen felt all that he cares for, has died with you.  He didn't even get to say goodbye, didn't even say 'I love you too' quick enough. No, he missed his open window of opportunity, he watched as it slammed in his face.

With a heavy, broken, heart, Allen carried your body out of the building. As he made his way out, cradling you close, he received sympathetic looks from his men, he hated those looks with a burning passion.

A stretcher with a plastic body bag came and took your lifeless, pale, and cold body from him.

From that day in, Allen was never the same. Especially with all the crap that happened to him later on.
