A week had passed by very slowly. Instead of working directly on the case with Connor and Hank you were trapped doing paperwork. Not by force, of course you had agreed with Connor to talk to Fowler about letting you work on some files instead of doing the case with the currently missing android. The android detective figured it'd be better for your mental health, and he was probably right but you couldn't help but be upset and stubborn. You sit up in your swivel chair, spinning around slowly out of pure boredom; you had already finished the work..it wasn't much. You rolled your eyes once getting a glare from the officer at the desk near you, you stopped and pulled your chair up to the desk. The ticking of the little clock on your desk mixed with the boredom could already send you mad, but before you could think too much of it you noticed something shiny on your desk. You smiled and picked it up, one of Connor's coins. He had given it to you since he figured it'd be an easy pass time, but boy how wrong was he. Coin tricks were not at all as easy as the android made them seem, he had shown you ones that he called easy but you completly failed them at every attempt. You figured why not give one a try, you tried one where he would flick the coin between his hands;catching it between his index finger and thumb.
You fumbled with the coin and it didn't take you long to drop it, you let out an annoyed groan when it went rolling across the floor. You peered around to make sure no one noticed your atrocious attempt of the trick before getting up from your desk and following it, once you spotted it you realized someone had been picking it up. Of course that person was Gavin, it had to be him of all people; you had been avoiding him every since what happened that evening and you weren't about to end your streak of success. You quickly turned on your heels but before you could scurry off you heard him yell out,
"Y/n, I think you dropped this!"

'Shit! Of course he'd call your name why wouldn't he?!' you couldn't help but mentally yell at yourself

You put on a fake smile before you turned back around to face him, "Wow, I did?" you pretended to be surprised, "I swear if my head wasn't attached to my body, I'd drop it." You immediately covered your face in embarrassment that you had used that line completely wrong.

"Uh..what?" he laughed at your awful use of the line that didn't make sense, "Look, I know you're probably still upset at me but what the fuck does that even mean." he laughed a bit harder

"I don't know! I'm such an idiot." You laughed it off and removed your hands and joined him in even more laughter. Once it died down the silence between you two began.

"Y/n... I know I should have--" he began

"No! Don't apologize," you cleared your throat, "I just...I'm not sure if I'm ready for a relationship right now."

"I wasn't trying to force it, that'd never be my intention. I can understand that."

"Gavin...I mean I can try. I don't see the harm in it but I'd have to take it super slow."

He quickly nodded, "If that's how you feel then that's fine with me."

"Cool. Well then I think you should take me out to lunch first." You quickly said, pretty much starving and loving the idea of a free lunch.

"Wow, already so demanding," he chuckled, "I'll do you one better, dinner."

"Oh...then yeah, sure!"

"How's 9? I can pick you up."

"Yeah...that'd be great!" You smiled; feeling this anxious feeling grow in your stomach. It wasn't the worst though.
Once the clock had struck 6 you basically flew out of the station. You quickly got in a cab; rushing to get home. Once you had gotten there you searched through your closet frantically to find anything that was the attire for a date, you werent at all prepared for this. You pulled out your phone as you sat in a pile of your clothes that you had deemed not worthy, you shot Gavin a text since you had finally exchanged numbers;
You: where exactly are we going? i need to know what to wear.

Gavin: It doesnt matter. I'm sure you'd look good I anthing.
You rolled your eyes in response, of course guys don't understand this type of thing.

You: Can it be casual. Movie date?

Gavin:  sure wherever you want to go.

You smiled and decided to pick out something casual but something that really expressed you and the style you were going for. After work kicked up, you didn't really get many opportunities to do things for yourself so you were sure this would be good for you. You looked at your outfit in the mirror and then you heard the doorbell ring, it was way too early for Gavin to be here. Maybe he decided to come earlier? You hurried to the door and swung it open,
"Oh, Connor!" You smiled

"Hello, Y/n. You look nice, where are you going?"

"I um...have somewhere to be." you walked back inside and went to look in the mirror in the living room area

"What? Y/n, you do know it's Friday right?"

"Shit. We were supposed to do movie night, huh? I'm sorry Connor but I'll have to take a raincheck!"

"What are you doing tonight that's so important?"

"I have a date." you smiled

"A date? With who?" he quickly asked

"I," you cleared your throat, "W-with Detective Reed."

"Oh..really? I--"

you heard your phone ring in the other room and rushed to answer it,
"Hold that thought,Connor!" You shouted once you picked up your phone and answered, "Hey, Gavin. What's up?"

"I'm outside, I figured we'd go to an earlier show and then go out to eat, if that's okay with you?"

"Y-yeah of course! I'll be right out." he gave you an 'alright' before you both hung up. You snatched your phone off the charger and came out of the room "What were you going to say,Connor. Can it maybe wait..? Gavin is waiting for me."

"I...nevermind, it was nothing important," he looked away so you wouldn't see the way his LED glowed yellow, "I hope you'll enjoy yourself."

"Thanks, Connor! I'll make movie night up, promise." You began to exit your apartment and the android followed, you both went down the steps and you were immediately greeted by the sight of Gavin's car. He rolled down his window and grinned as he looked at you. You exchanged goodbyes with Connor and ran to the car to hop in. You were confident that this date would go good.
