When I started writing down my answer to the last question of my homework the bell rang. Our English teacher gave us some time to start our homework, which was a first because she usually tells us our homework 5 minutes before the bell rings.

"Mei and Tom! Could you please stay for a moment?" Our teacher asked

I nodded and scribbled down the rest of the answer and finally stood up in front of her desk. Tom and I made eye contact and he immediately glared at me of course.

"Okay, so, Tom I noticed that you have been slacking off and haven't been trying in this class," The teacher starts off, "Because of that, your failing this class so I need you to bring your grade up."

"Uh why?" Tom asked, "It's my grade not yours, shouldn't you not care?"

"Well if you don't want to stay on the football team then it's not my problem-"

"Alright fine!" Tom exclaimed, "I'll bring my grade up," Tom proceeds to leave

"Do not leave yet Thomas!" The teacher exclaimed with an annoyed face

Can't blame her really, I'd hate to have Tom as a student.

"I'm sorry to say this, but I do not trust you will listen to me and bring your grade up," She tells him, "Therefore, Mei," She looks at me, "As the smartest student in the class," She says, "More like in the school," She quickly whispers, "I will need you to start tutoring him."

My face panics, "Please no-"

"Look I'm sorry, and I know you don't want to do this but it's just until Tom brings his grade up to at least a B average," She tries to assure me

"Great," I muttered, "I'll do it," I said with a tight smile from the corner of my eye I could see that Tom clearly wasn't happy about this either

Nice to know that the feeling was mutual.

"Alright, that's all, you may proceed to your next class," She shooed us away

As soon as Tom and I exited the classroom Tom had to open his mouth and talk as usual.

"You're not tutoring me," Tom told me in a harsh tone, "I don't need your help or want it."

"But the teacher said-"

"I don't care what the teacher said, I don't need your help or want it and that's final," Tom cut me off

"But want if she finds out that I haven't been tutoring you-"

"She won't find out okay? Now just leave me alone, I have better things to do then talk to a nerd, especially Mei Twig," He said my name in disgust and starts to walk away

"Why do you hate me so much!?" I called out which made him stop, "Why? What is the reasoning for bullying me all the years? What have I ever done to you that made you hate me? And turn almost half the school against me?" I asked angrily

"I don't need to answer you," Tom said to me, "You do not tell me what to do."

"I wasn't telling you what to do! I was asking a question! One that I should have ask a long time ago!" I exclaimed

"Like I said," Tom says, "I don't need to answer your questions," He told me before leaving off

"I always forget how stubborn Tom is," I rolled my eyes

"Finished," I sighed happily I had finished the second book of the selection series and now I had to go back and do homework

Yay.

I started to my History homework first which usually didn't take me a long time to do. I always did easy homework first then I did the harder one next and I continue to switch back and forth from that pattern. I didn't like doing all of the easy ones first because then I would end up staying up late struggling and I didn't like doing the harder homework first because it would be take me awhile and I would end up staying up late and have no motivation to do anything else.

"Hey, you're here too," I heard Adrian's voice, "Not that I'm surprised though," He chuckles

"Busy working on homework," I told him, "Not that I'm surprised either," I chuckled, "Considering I never really have anything else to do."

"Well, I have lots of homework to do and my house is kind of distracting so I thought it would be best if I came by here instead," He told me smiling

I nodded, "I have an older brother who's married and doesn't live with us, so I can't really relate," I laughed, "But I like coming to the library for fun."

"Can't relate," Adrian responded as we both laughed

I sighed, "Ugh, I don't know what I'm going to do," I muttered looking down at my homework

I really did not want to tutor Tom, ever since middle school he's made it a full time job to make my life miserable and to take the whole school around with it. Even though Macie and I never went to the school same school, I'm glad to at least have her as a friend she always comforted me when I needed her and I always did the same to her, expect she's a lot more brave and bold then I am so it takes a lot to make her cry.

"With what?" Adrian asks in confusion

"Oh nothing," I looked at him, "Just uh kind of confused with this question," I smiled nervously

"Need any help?"

"I can figure it out, but thanks," I told him

I don't know if I wanted to tell the guys and Macie that I had to tutor Tom. Sure, maybe they'd help, but I think it's better if I keep it to myself. I don't want them making it worse. Hopefully Tom at least gives me grace to be nice to me while I'm tutoring him. But, a girl can dream right? Because I doubt that's going to happen.

Unknown: Why the frown? Upset because you have to tutor Tom? This is just the beginning. -AA
