Chapter Forty: December 23rd

Saturday.

It was finally Saturday, and not only that but it was also finally winter break. All of us, Felix, Macie, Zach, Christ, and Mike, we're all having breakfast together. Adrian couldn't come because he was taking care of his little sister.

"So, what do you guys think about the secret Santa idea?" I asked all of them after I had that conversation with Adrian at my house that night about Christmas, I told everyone else about the idea Adrian and I walked to do

"I think it's a great idea," Macie responded

"Would we do it before or after Christmas?" Zach asked me

"I think maybe before would work better," I told him as I received a text from Adrian

Adrian: I'm able to come have breakfast with you guys now but would you all mind if I brought my little sister? I'm still watching her.

Me: Not at all! I'm just glad you're able to come now.

I shut my phone off, "Adrian's coming now," I told everyone

"I thought he was watching his watching his little sister?" Felix asked me with a confused look

"Yeah, but he asked me if he could bring her, and I said it was fine," I answered Felix

"Oh..." Felix's eyebrows furrowed, "He texted you and asked just now?" Felix asked me

"Yeah," I nodded as the waiter came by with our drinks

Minutes later Adrian came inside with his little sister as he grabbed an extra seat from an empty table and sat in front of me with his little sister sitting next to him.

"Have you guys ordered yet?" Adrian asked as he opened a menu

"Just our drinks," Mike told him

"Did you tell them about the secret Santa idea?" Adrian asked me

"Yeah," I nodded

"I'm free the 23rd if you guys are too," Adrian

Macie shut her phone off, "I'm free that day too."

"Me too," Zach said

"I have to make sure, but I think I am too," Mike told us

"We can make a group chat and confirm when we all know for sure if we're free or not," I said as everyone nodded

The waiter came over and asked if we were too ready to order while Adrian ordered his drink for himself and his little sister. Mike, Zach, and Macie and I ordered our food while Felix, Christ, Adrian, and his little sister didn't know what they wanted yet.

"What's your little sister's name?" I asked Adrian smiled at the little girl

Adrian's little sister shuffled in her seat nervously while Adrian nudged her softly to tell me, "Haven," She told me shyly

"How old are you?" I asked her

"8," She told me quietly

"Really?" I asked surprised, "But you look so tall for your age," I told her truthfully

"She gets that a lot," Adrian laughs

"Would you mind if making room for one more?" Felix asks, "I told Allie we were here and she wants to come."

Great.

"There's space right over there near Adrian and Mei," Mike nods near us

I pursed my lips and looked down as I discreetly tried to look at Adrian who was already looking at me. He gave me a reassuring smile when he noticed the kind of face I had. When the waiter came back with some of our foods and Adrian and his sisters drink, then Allie appears inside and I watch her walk over to our table as well greeted her as she sat near Adrian and me.
