"I can't do it [Y/n], I change my mind." Hobi whispered to you in a panicked hush as he started to get cold feet. Holding the face mask tightly against his face, he pivoted around on one foot, and started to make a bee line for the exit.

You quickly latched onto his arm to hold him in one spot. Wrapping your arms around one of his, as you used most of your arm strength to fight against his pull. He gave you an urgent glance as his escape became harder for him.

You both stood in the hospital's courtyard styled garden, surrounded by neatly trimmed rose bushes. A few nurses walking around gave you two weird looks as Hobi struggled to run away.

"You've already come this far Hobi. If you back out now this will all be for nothing, and when will you ever get the chance to see her again? Or at least come this close to trying."

"I don't know. But I don't want to risk putting them in more danger-"

"You won't Hobi." You cut him off to kill his worry and emphasize your reassurance to him.

He looked at you puzzle as you still clung onto his arm, "How could you be so sure?"

"Because I'm here. You're used to protecting them, so this time let me do it. I'll protect you from your dad." You answered him without missing a beat. Throwing him off a bit considering how prepared your answer sounded.

"You don't know what he's capable of [Y/n]." Hobi said, not to scare you. But because he knew you wouldn't back down from what you say, he just wanted to make sure if you really wanted to become involved with his family dangers.

"He doesn't know what I'm capable of either Hobi. You don't know what your capable of either." You nudged his arm as you spoke.

"Wait- me?" Hobi's eyes widen in bewilderment, hoping he heard you wrong. You nodded while humming 'mhm' in response.

"You're not that little boy anymore. You're not trapped in a position where you have to pick between sacrificing your happiness or your family, you can have both." You elaborated further, as a sincere smile made it's way across your face. "You're Hoseok, BTS's badass hacker extraordinaire and the dancer of this generation."

You sniffled a giggle when you saw how flushed his cheeks got behind his face mask from your compliment.

"Show him you aren't dead, show him you're alive and ready to give him a real reason to feel threaten." Watching a surge of emotions conflict strongly in his tense gaze. You pulled back most of your energy to give him time to catch up.

As each word you spoke was soaked into him. You were telling him things that went against everything he's probably lived by. To prevent him from getting overwhelmed, you changed your tone to something of his current pace.

"No one's telling you to run away. This time you can stand on your own and fight back, but that's only if you're willing to make that choice." You spoke softly as you attempted to guide him to his unawaken epiphany.

As you did so, you held your ground as a familiar phlegm suddenly built up in the back of your throat. Feeling a nauseous wave of guilt and regret from the incident with Hyuna. You hesitantly let go of his arm, and started to unnerve your emotions through deep meditated breaths.

You looked up at him, met with his doe eyes as if you caught him in headlights.

"I can't make you see your sister, I can't make you do anything, it's not my place. This is a choice you have to make, it has to be made with no regrets either. So if you really want to run away again, then I have no choice but to accept your decision." You cast your eyes downwards as you noticed a very obvious flinched towards you saying 'run away again'.

After a long pause, you reluctantly swallowed back words that were caught in your throat. You knew which choice was the obvious one to pick, but it still wasn't your call. It became quiet enough to hear each others slow breaths and the nearby nurses whispers towards the both of you in suspicion.

"Let's go before the nurses get anymore weirded out Hoseok." You told him as you walked past his frozen body, figuring he'll just follow you in tow once he snaps back into reality.

You barely made it past him before his hand clamped around your upper arm, holding you firmly in place. Looking at his hand, your eyes trailed up his arm you his face. Or at least to the side of it. Hobi kept looking forward in a paralyzed like state, you couldn't read him as his bangs covered over his eyes.

"I don't want to run away anymore, I'm so sick of the running and hiding." Hobi confessed as he pushed the words out loud enough to move them past his face mask. There was a clear stressful strain in the way he said 'so sick'.

"What do you want to do then?" You asked him, in equal gentleness to his tone.

"I want to see my sister, and my mom. Give my friend the proper funeral he deserves in his name, not mine. I'm alive, and a lot more powerful and vengeful than my dad." Glancing back at you in the middle of his declaration, his hand dropped from your arm to your hand.

Engulfing your smaller hand easily, Hobi pulled you along as he made long prideful strides to the entrance of the hospital.

You couldn't help but watch in awe as a meaningful fire was relit in his eyes. A fire that never went out in the first place yet, burned brighter than the flame that was suffocating before.

Hobi's purpose and diction was rightfully placed into his newly found strength. He gripped your hand tightly again as his pace quicken, unlike before he didn't do it out of fear and regret. He was holding it with promise.

"I won't run away anymore." Pulling his mask down with his index finger, he fully ripped the face mask away. Without sparing it a glance, Hobi tossed the black cloth to the side. "You're right [Y/n], I'm not that boy anymore. I wasn't protecting anyone by pretending to be dead, I was just a coward."

Both of you ignored the lady behind the front desk calling out to both of you as Hobi made his way to the elevators. His piercing gaze never leaving his objective as he took you along with him in every step. "I'm going to protect everyone I love without hiding anymore. I'm alive and I'm Jung fucking Hoseok, and I'll make sure everyone remembers that."
