Black, white, and gray. That's the only shades one could see until they meet the one created for them. At least, that's what the people who have found their match calls them. They have named each color they see yet there are still people who get frustrated at it considering that WE CANNOT SEE WHAT YOU MEAN!

"Okay so the party will be held at her house- I mean, castle- at exactly seven and the color scheme would be red, green, and white." My best friend read off the invitation as I laid upside down on the couch, my head hanging off the edge.

"I don't even know what those colors are." I muttered bitterly as I stared at the fire from my spot.

"I'll help you with that. And white is literally the lightest shade you can see, with or without meeting your soul mate. It's like looking up to the sky on a sunny day."

"I don't think I have clothes that match the theme. And why red, green, and white anyway?"

"They're Christmas colors! Jules said that it would be a Christmas slash New Year's Eve party with just us and some of her other friends."

"I don't even think I want to go, y/bff/n." I muttered, sitting up properly and sighing.

"What? Why not?" She asked, putting down the piece of parchment paper on the coffee table.

"I don't want to see a bunch of couples hugging and greeting each other as fireworks explode in the background! I hate seeing them happy as colors fill the sky! I can't even fully appreciate the lights as they only seem like exploding white streaks! It's depressing!"

I buried my head into one of the furry throw pillows and groaned. I honestly know that I'm overreacting as some people actually never find their mates and go on life without seeing color. I'm just 18! But hearing people talk about how "blue", "green", "brown" their partner's eyes are., or that "purple" matches my skin, or how "gold"  makes my eyes pop is frustrating. I want to see what they see. I want to feel what they feel. Yet the one hasn't come along yet.

"Y/n... you just have to be patient, okay? I know it's frustrating but it will happen." She reassured, holding my hand and giving it a squeeze. "Now come on, we have to get ready. Considering that I have to pick OUR outfits and have to do OUR makeup, we better get started."

She pulled me up to my room first, looking through my closet to find something that I could wear. She took out a pair of see through stockings, a skirt, and a open shoulder top with sleeves that stop at my elbows. She then ran over to her room and came back with clothes that looked exactly the same, claiming that we would be twinning except my blouse would be in "red" and hers will be in "green".

I begrudgingly put the clothes on and slipped into a pair of heeled boots. I put my contact lenses on and grabbed sling bag from one of my drawers before walking over to her room and once she saw me, she squealed before pulling me over to her vanity. She took her time and did my makeup, considering that hers were already done. Once she was finished, she couldn't help but scream out in excitement. I rolled my eyes at her and tied my hair half up.

"I really don't want to go." I muttered, playing with the chain of my bag as I placed it on my shoulder.

She just sighed and opened her mouth to say something, only to be interrupted by a car horn. I groaned as we both made our way out of the apartment. I shrugged my coat on before we could get to the exit in order to block the cold from the snow. We got into her soul mate's car and I had to hold myself back from vomiting as she immediately greeted him with a kiss.

"Can you guys please pull away before you end up fucking right in front of me?" I grumbled, looking out of the window in annoyance.

"Well someone's grumpy." Drew chuckled, pulling away from y/bff/n and reaching out to me to ruffle my hair but I caught in just in time.
