"Where are we going, exactly?" I asked for what seemed like a hundredth time as I leaned my head back against the seat.

"Would you just keep quiet instead of asking the same questions repeatedly only to get absolutely no answer?" Shawn replied, chuckling as I let out a loud, irritated groan.

"Would you just give me an answer as to why you had to wake me up at six in the morning instead of avoiding it with your own questions?"

"Would you just do as I say and shut up?"

"This conversation is as pointless as today's educational system. Just answer the freaking question, Shawn!" I exclaimed as dramatically as I could, laughing at our behavior.

"I have a meeting at nine and I didn't really feel comfortable with leaving you alone at home." He explained, glancing at me quickly as he drove.

"Then what the hell am I supposed to do for the next few hours?"

"I think they mentioned something about a boyband recording in the recording studio beside the board room so maybe, I don't know, hang out with them?"

"What boyband?"

"I don't know. Maybe Why Don't We?"

"I'll ask Jonah." I said, grabbing my phone from my pocket to text him as an annoyed groaned escaped Shawn's lips.

"You still talk to him?" He asked, his irritation lacing his tone.

"Uh, yes? I'm friends with everyone in that group and they're cool. I just happen to be close to Jonah."

"I seriously hate the fact that you have a lot of guy friends."

"Hey! You have a lot of girl friends yet you don't see me eyeing them badly like you do to my friends."

"That's because guys around your age are hormonal monsters."

"Uh... Shawn, you're only two years older than me. Not to mention that Jonah's only a couple or so months older than you. Does that mean that you're also a hormonal monster?"

He sighed and shook his head, reaching over to the passenger seat to hold my hand in his free one. "I just don't want you to get taken advantage of, okay? I hate that you're growing older each day and I can't do anything about it other than watch from the sidelines. I still want to make it my job to protect you from the cruel world."

"And it is but stopping me from having any form of social interaction with a boy is not gonna do anything."

"Fine. You win."

"Oh, and you owe me food for waking me up this early."

He just laughed and let go of my hand, using his to push me by the shoulder. We spent the remainder of the ride with music filling up the silence between us. I leaned my head against the window and eventually dozed off. I only woke up when I felt Shawn trying to shake me awake. I sleepily sat up and got out of the car, following him through several hallways of the huge building. Midway, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pulled it out only to find a reply from Jonah.

No, we're not recording today. It's the first time we finally got a time off in months.

Why do you ask btw?

Nothing. Shawn just mentioned about some boyband recording today. Not to mention that I'm stuck doing absolutely nothing for the next few hours.

Want us to stop by?

Nah, it's cool. I'll just get to know these guys then. Have a good break!
