Chapter ♞ 9: Mixed Feelings (2)

IMPORTANT A/N: Lately since school started I've been lacking motivation for writing my stories! That isn't acceptable, on my part.

BUT I've found a way to make myself update! VOTE GOALS.

Basically I set a vote goal for each chapter (How many votes I want that chapter) and If it's reached, I'll update EARLY!

Even if they're not reached, I'll still update, just not as fast.

There is no time limit, just try to make it before I update (which could take a week).

You sit in the car awkwardly as Hikaru drives as fast as he can (within the speed limit). You cringe mentally as your mind replays the scene over and over again.

"Am I interrupting something?" A voice hisses from across the room. You and Hikaru break apart quickly, turning your heads toward the voice.

Your eyes widen in surprise as you see Kaoru standing in the doorway, eyes narrowed. He angrily crosses his arms.

"I thought you were going to Grandma's!" Hikaru says, clearly just as shocked as you.

"Maybe, if you had checked your phone instead of sucking faces with her," he stops and jabs his finger at you. " Than you would have read the texts I sent."

"But it wasn't like that-" You stopped before continuing. Was it really what it looked like? It was just a kiss, right?

Hikaru picks up his phone and turns it on, scrolling through the texts.

Kaoru uncrosses his arms and turns towards the door. "I better go, you two should have some... alone time." He finishes his sentence with disgust, choking a bit as tears prick his eyes.

He quickly runs out the door and through the house. You hear the front door slam, wincing at the noise, and a car speeds away.

Hikaru begins to get up to chase after his brother, before realizing that you were still here.

He turns to you quietly, golden eyes shining with pain. "You should... go. I-I'll drive you home and finish the project." He says.

"I can walk, it's not too far." You say quietly and sympathetically. You may not have liked his brother very much, but you knew how much they cared for each other.

He shakes his head. "I'll drive you." He persists, walking towards the door.

He pulls into the parking lot of your apartment complex and stops the car.

"Thanks for the ride." You say quietly. He nods his head and turns his head towards the window glumly.

You pull yourself out of the car and go straight towards your apartment.

Hikaru slowly pulled out of the driveway, and left quickly. You expected that he was going to go find where Kaoru ran off to.

This is a mess. How did this even happen? Haruhi, Hikaru, Kaoru- I mess everything up with everyone.

You place your hand on the door handle and jiggle it.

Damn, now I have to get my keys.

You reach into your jacket pocket, finding nothing. You check the other one quickly, to no avail. You set your stuff on the ground and reach into all of your pockets, panic stricken.
