Today i woke up smiling
And I was thinking of you
Thinking of what it would be like
If you were here with me and my family
On this cozy snow day
I envision us together on the couch
Watching the warm chaos of my siblings
And witnessing the love of my parents
A smile never leaving our faces
As I cherished the moment we sat intertwined
And I don't become sad
Thinking about you here with me
Instead I feel grateful
And happy that at one point
You were in my life
Experiencing everything by my side
At one point it was real
It was you and me
And I am happy that it happened
And even though it ended
And you are not here with me today
The fact that at one point
We shared memories like the one I envision us having today
Is enough
I smile because I don't want you back
Because you have changed
But who you used to be
Is still warm and present in my thoughts
I smile because I don't need you here for me to be happy
And I am okay with it
