You sit and watch
This circus act that I am
With hungry eyes and anticipation
Every time i lose my balance
On this thin tight rope
You laugh as you throw popcorn
Into your mouth
I juggle flames to please you
But you sit back
And shrug it off
It never impresses you
You love the way I panic
When I lose control of my acrobatics
I bend over backwards for you
But you grow bored
You are at your happiest
Watching me fail
Watching me humiliate myself
You feed off my fear
And to think
All this time I thought
You took the time to see my acts
Because you care
But it took me too long to realize
I shouldn't have to perform
In the first place.
