To the one I loved the most

"I feel taller than you now."
He whispers softly as he embraces me
As he stands on the step of his home
Well past the hours of the daylight
The hours leading up to this goodnight
Were the most difficult for him
Perhaps that was why it was so special
He squeezes me tightly and
Many times have I felt his embrace that freezes time itself
But in that moment
I knew how lucky I was to have him
I knew how safe I was when I was with him
His hugs were always the best ones
He's the only one I've ever met
who has ever hugged back tighter
Now I am somewhere lost
In the cold of late September
Wondering where his warmth has gone

This poem is very important to me because it is the poem that sparked my idea for this book. Though I have chosen not to make this the first poem of the book, because I wrote many before this about the same person, it is still the first poem that gave me the inspiration.♥️
