I reach the house a quarter to seven, with Harry waiting for me in the front door.

"Sir Caden! Where have you been?" Harry asked when I gave him my hat and my bag. "Sorry I ran out late, I traveled around the city," I said. "Err... Master Darren has been asking for you," he said. I can sense a nervous tone from him. I sighed while handing him my jacket.

"Where is he?" I asked. "In his workroom, let me take you there," he said. I look at him and smile before replying, "I know where it is. Just go back to your chores." I want to avoid Harry getting blamed by Darren when he sees him, just because I slipped out. I don't want anyone to bear responsibility for the decisions I made.

I have remembered most parts of the mansion but never actually get into every room. This is the first time I'm gonna step into Darren's workplace. I give a knock on the door before opening the door.

Finally being here, Darren has a relatively common workroom with a desk in the middle, some bookshelves, sofas, and tons of paper works. There are two other people besides him. The woman is Niran, while the man is George, Darren's secretary. For the most obvious reason, I know George opposes myself as Darren's partner. Well, my father permits them to get another partner, an Omega if he wanted to.

Seeing me there, Darren asked the other two to leave. Niran gave me a short smile while George acted like I wasn't even there. Well, I've gotten used to being treated like this from people here. Darren asked me to come to him after the other two left. I approach him slowly and stop in front of his table.

"Where have you been," he asked. "I went to the town," I answered. "And why didn't you tell me?" he asked. Didn't I already leave the message on the table? "Err... I left a note on the table," I said. "Why didn't you bring a phone?" he asked. Wait, do I have a phone? I don't remember old Caden having any recollection of using the phone after getting here. I can't remember where he put it. "I don't know where my phone is," I speak the truth, "I probably lost it." Darren opened his drawer and slid a phone to me.

"From today, you'll be grounded inside this place. Also, Harry is gonna accompany you everywhere," he said. What? Am I six? Since when can you be grounded and an adult? Well, I know I'll make some way out, eventually. Besides, I don't think I want more problems now. "Okay," I said. Be patient. "You also need to return to your room before nine," he continued. Ridiculous. "Yes," I replied quickly. "And you can't fall asleep until I come back," he added. So selfish and unrealistic! "Okay," I said in flat.

Darren notices my odd obedience and looks at me for a while before giving me a sign to leave. I just pick the phone from his table and head outside without saying anything. Feeling grateful that at least I didn't run into too much problem.

I spent the last two weeks just doing my translation work. One good thing from getting Harry to accompany me everywhere is that he could help me bring the books from and to the shelves, also get me food and snacks so I don't really need to go to the kitchen anymore. He is the one who offers me help and I just take it for granted. Besides, it's better to have a friend to talk to.

I learned from Harry that the small device technology has been here for so long. It really erases the language barrier but makes the skill of understanding multiple languages become unimportant. Some countries still traditionally learn language, but definitely not this one.

I also learn about the hierarchical status of the second sex system here. Omega used to be so precious but after the population of people becomes stable enough, their existence becomes no much than a sex slave or just breeder. Also, their periodical heat session becomes really a major problem for people around them. I have never been near an Omega in heat so I can't really say anything about this. From Harry, I also know how some people look at me as Darren's partner.

It was promised that my little brother was going to wed him. So most people expect him, an Omega, to be Darren's partner and give this house a few heirs. They got both the business and family advantages. Unfortunately, what comes to them was me, a Beta. Old Caden was known to have no skills being raised in a noble house, so many saw me as a broken substitute. Well, I remember hearing my father stated that Darren can get other partners to produce more heirs as long as I still his sole official partner.

Anyway, that's why most of them don't really like me. I just hope that Darren finally found an Omega to replace me. After guaranteeing my replacement, I could create a plan to make him kick me from this house and give me some settlement money. Runaway and start anew.

"Harry, what are you gonna do if you stop working here?" I asked. Harry came out from between the shelves, "Sir, you won't fire me right?" he asked. I gave him a smile, "Probably if you are still using honorifics to me." He sighed knowing that I was joking, "Just when we are alone."

He then thought for a while for my previous question, "Probably a farmer." Such an unexpected answer. "Why?" I asked. "Just because," he answered. "I always dream to live in the countryside. Also... Even Though the Northern territory is colder than the rest, I know there are some crops that can only grow here," he added. "I also want to do experiments to discover how to grow them efficiently," Harry continued. Such a wonderful vision.

"What do most people do for a living?" I asked. "Many become merchants, selling their products or handcrafted. The other major occupation is still office work. Economic major is the most common, but I heard many companies are searching for tech experts and they have quite high salaries," he explained.

"How about the soldier, military?" I said, "I heard we have the best knight across the Kingdom." Harry nodded, looking proud. "Master Darren's skill is unbeatable. Master Caleb is the one who leads the current military. The soldiers need to pass training designed by the Sealgair family, so of course, they are skillful." I really wanna see their military training.

"Another question," I said, "why are there no Omega in this household?" I asked. Harry looks a little taken aback like I'm asking the most obvious question. "Sealgair is famous for being an Alpha family. So, it's not wise to keep an Omega that is not your mate in this household. The servants here are all Beta, we don't experience heat which could cause disturbance for the masters," he said.

"Besides, it's not uncommon for many Omegas to use their heat and trap Alphas to impregnate them. Babies for money," he added. "Disgusting," he commented quietly to himself but I managed to catch it. I just nodded on his explanation. The only Omega that I've met seems just too desperate to stay alive. I really want to see more of them.

My phone's alarm rings at ten to nine. I need to head back to the room. I stood up and stretched my body a little before closing my notebook and picking it along with two other books. "Harry, help me put these books back," I said pointing at a stack of books. He nodded and immediately tidied the books as I head out of the library.

I return to my room and put my leftover works on my desk. I started translating a few pages to spend time. Darren usually comes back at ten and as he says I can't sleep before he comes, I just finished the work here.
