I don't hide my surprised look when he greets me. The boy sat in front of me whereas Yuuri froze upon hearing his word. "You know me?"

"Who doesn't. You are the hottest topic in town when you got married into the Sealgair's house last year," he simply answered.

"How...?"

"At first, it was just my curiosity, the sponsor of this place. Yuuri and everyone here called you 'Rene' but I can't gather anything about your identity. You come in random, give us money and help, then leave," he answered. "Well, you rarely show yourself much in public as Caden Sealgair so it becomes even trickier to connect the dot. At first, I assume you are just some kind, rich noble who felt pity for us. I don't think much later on," he continued. "Truthfully, I got lucky. One time I saw you in town with a knight, it answered everything."

I'm processing his words. "Who is the knight that you are talking about?"

"Leo, Leonhart. He's a well known knight. Well, many of my clients are knights and soldiers under him. They often met me just to rant about him and relieve their stress," he answered like it was nothing. "I asked several people. They never heard Leo's partner. An interesting fact fall on my lap. They said Leo got assigned to be your personal knight around the end of last year. You have a very common appearance so it all just a guess, but my guess seems right."

Wow. This boy seems to have a decent connection to be able to gather those infos, also good inference skill.

"Wait, hold on. What are you talking about? Rene? Sealgair?" Yuuri finally moves and joins our talk. He sat down beside the boy cautiously.

"Yeah, I know it's unbelievable," said the boy nonchalantly.

"Rene...?" Yuuri called me unsurely, asking for an explanation.

I look at the boy who acts like he doesn't care that he just revealed my identity. He surely doesn't want to explain further. I look at Yuuri, feel guilty if I don't provide anything, after so many requests.

"What he said is true. My name is Caden, the one who married Darren Sealgair. But please, keep calling me Rene," I said briefly.

Yuuri gone speechless, can't really comprehend what he heard.

"So, can you introduce him?" I asked Yuuri.

He, again, stone a bit but immediately get back to his sense. "He is our newest employee, Kei. Kei, meet Rene, the owner," Yuuri said. "Kei's previous workplace is famous amongst soldiers and knights. Some even follows him here just for his service. As you request information about the military, I thought he might know something," Yuuri said.

"Why don't you ask your husband, he knows more than me," Kei asked suddenly leaning forward, staring at me curiously.

I gave him a raised eyebrow, he should know the answer. As I didn't reply anything he gave a sigh. "Well, I can guess," he deliberately backed off. "So, what are you curious about?"

The story from Kei baffled me but at the same time, I wasn't really surprised.

The method they use to gather information is nowhere near my expectation. They imprison them, give them limited supply to live, and only do whipping to invoke physical injuries. I could think of so many faster and more efficient torturement to squeeze information. Kei told me that it could last weeks and even months and he said it was the worst possible treatment. Well, I know that the officials have some regulations when conducting investigation. Sometimes, some rules need to be applied. Still, these long inefficient methods are annoying.

"Are you sure this is how they got treated?" I asked for another confirmation.

"Yeah, assassins got the worst treatment. I know since I've served one of the investigators," Kei defended the validity of his information. "Just thinking about it makes me sick." Yeah, the more peaceful you live, slightest punishment can look brutal.

"Do you think it's possible to sneak in?" I asked. "I don't think so, the guards are tight and they probably locked them in the deepest area. It seems there are several layers you need to pass," Kei explains.

The chance is low to begin with. I thought I could see them in person and do the interrogation myself. Do I need to back off now and just wait? Unfortunately it seems that Darren won't give me any follow up. He rarely talks about military stuffs in general. This kind of report won't reach my ear.

It probably just a common attack. I know that Sealgair's house often get targeted, but I found it odd that they sent assassins with that low skill, knowing their target. Do I need to push harder?

"Rene!"

Yuuri's voice snaps me back. He looks both worried and confused. "Sorry I didn't catch your question, what was it again?" I asked. Yuuri gave a short sighed. "Are you sure you okay?" he asked. Few blinks before I answered. "Yeah, totally," I confirm. "Why?"

"No, it's just... you usually ask more general questions, not a very specific one like this," Yuuri started slowly. "Also," he pauses, looking conflicted. He looks like he gave a few thoughts before continuing. "I found it odd, after knowing you are Caden Sealgair. Our status gap is too big. So, why would you affiliate yourself with a kind like us?"

Sometimes, I forgot that social gaps still exist. "We share the same genetic code that groups us into the same species. Why can't I befriend you," I mumbled.

"But you are a Beta," Kei now talked. "It's already so weird that you get involved with Omega. Adding your Alpha husband, it's become even stranger."

I sighed. People in this world and their obsession with the secondary gender. They have tendencies to use that to reason.

"Don't you feel even weirder, to live determined by the probability from your parent's chromosome?" I gave them a warm smile.

"I don't submit to those kinds of things."
